This study examined the repeated bout effect (RBE) on muscle damage markers following two bouts of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) in untrained individuals. Following familiarization, participants received 45 consecutive NMES to the biceps brachii at an intensity that produced low evoked force for the elbow flexors. Muscle damage markers (maximal voluntary isometric contraction [MVIC], elbow range of motion [ROM], muscle soreness via visual analogue scale [VAS] scores, pressure pain threshold [PPT], and muscle thickness) were measured before (PRE), after (POST), 1 day after (24 POST), and 2 days after (48 POST) NMES.

Analyses involving energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) allowed us to conclude that the production of a homogeneous layer of HAp on the braiding surface and the calcium/phosphate atomic ratio were comparable to those of natural bone. The maximum degradation temperature established by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) showed a modest decrease with the addition of HAp.

Methods: Twelve recreationally active males and eleven recreationally active females performed maximal voluntary contractions (MVCs), followed by an isometric trapezoidal muscle action of the elbow flexors at 70% MVC. Surface EMG was recorded from the BB during BFR and control (CON) visits.
Purpose: To determined sex differences in absolute- and %-reductions in blood flow during intermittent muscular contractions as well as relationships between blood flow reductions and time to task failure (TTF).
Methods: Thirteen males (25 ± 4 years) and 13 females (22 ± 5 years) completed intermittent isometric trapezoidal forearm flexion at 50% maximal voluntary contraction until task failure. Doppler ultrasound was used to measure brachial artery blood flow (BABF) during the 12-s plateau phase and 12-s relaxation phase.

Currently, it is unknown whether decision support tools embedded within commercial electronic health record systems can be successfully adopted to achieve long-term reductions in FGF rates.
