Article Synopsis
  • The study explored the impact of intraoperative anesthetist-administered medications (IAAMs) on the total volume of IV fluid therapy during pancreaticoduodenectomy surgeries and their relation to postoperative outcomes.
  • Results showed that IAAMs contributed to a 5.2% increase in total fluid volume administered, comparable to colloid volumes, and were significantly associated with postoperative complications.
  • The findings suggest that IAAMs should be accounted for in future fluid management studies, as including them improves the prediction accuracy of complications following surgery.
