Background: This study aimed to measure patient-reported health-related quality of life amongst post-partum women in Queensland, Australia.

Methods: Patient-reported health-related quality of life data was prospectively collected from 134 post-partum women using the EQ-5D-5L at weekly intervals during the first six weeks following birth. Data across the five health domains of the EQ-5D-5L was converted to a single health utility value to represent overall health status.

Background: A dramatic decline in mental health of people worldwide in the early COVID-19 pandemic years has not recovered. In rural and remote Australia, access to appropriate and timely mental health services has been identified as a major barrier to people seeking help for mental ill-health. From 2020 to 2021 a care navigation model, Navicare, was co-designed with rural and remote communities in the Greater Whitsunday Region of Central Queensland in Australia.

The Cdc48 AAA+ ATPase is an abundant and essential enzyme that unfolds substrates in multiple protein quality control pathways. The enzyme includes two conserved AAA+ ATPase motor domains, D1 and D2, that assemble as hexameric rings with D1 stacked above D2. Here, we report an ensemble of native structures of Cdc48 affinity purified from budding yeast lysate in complex with the adaptor Shp1 in the act of unfolding substrate.

Orbital Apex Metastases From Primary Colorectal Adenocarcinoma: A Rare Cause for Unilateral Vision Loss.

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer-related death in the United States. Although it frequently metastasizes to adjacent structures such as the liver, orbital metastases are exceedingly uncommon. Additionally, the morbidity and mortality associated with colorectal cancer appear to be shifting to a younger population, a phenomenon that is exacerbated in minority populations.

Care navigation addresses issues of tele-mental health acceptability and uptake in rural and remote Australian communities.

Introduction: People living in rural and remote areas face substantial barriers to accessing timely and appropriate mental health services. In the Bowen Basin region of Queensland, Australia, barriers include: limited local providers, long waiting lists, unreliable telecommunication, and reluctance to trial telehealth. Isaac Navicare is a new, community co-designed care navigation service which addresses these barriers by coupling care navigation with supported telehealth, and referrals to mental health providers and other supports.

Flea-Borne Typhus Causing Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis: An Autopsy Case.

Infection with members of the order Rickettsiales (the genera , , , and ) is known to cause hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). The literature is scant on flea-borne typhus (FBT) being implicated in this process. We present a case of autopsy-proven HLH caused by FBT in a 71-year-old diabetic female who was initially suspected of having diabetic ketoacidosis who rapidly suffered decompensated multi-organ failure.

Impact of a health services innovation university program in a major public hospital and health service: a mixed methods evaluation.

Background: While health services and their clinicians might seek to be innovative, finite budgets, increased demands on health services, and ineffective implementation strategies create challenges to sustaining innovation. These challenges can be addressed by building staff capacity to design cost-effective, evidence-based innovations, and selecting appropriate implementation strategies. A bespoke university award qualification and associated program of activities was developed to build the capacity of staff at Australia's largest health service to implement and evaluate evidence-based practice (EBP): a Graduate Certificate in Health Science majoring in Health Services Innovation.

Subungual Exostosis of the Hand: A Case Report in a 5-Year-Old Boy and Literature Review.

Subungual exostosis is a relatively uncommon benign tumor that occurs at the distal end of the distal phalanx of the toes and rarely the hands. We present in this article a review of the currently published English literature and provide a case report of a 5 year old male with subungual exostosis of the thumb. A 5 year old male presented with a slow growing mass of the distal dorsal aspect of the left thumb.

Intra-rater reliability of goniometry to measure scapular protraction and retraction.

Study Design: Observational, descriptive design.

Background: Despite scapular mobility being essential for the completion of activities of daily living (ADLs), there is currently no established, a reliable goniometric technique to measure scapular protraction and retraction. A proposed method has shown clinically significant inter-rater reliability for a goniometric technique for these measurements.

Primary Rosai-Dorfman Disease in 39-Year-Old Woman With Osseous Tibial Lesion Manifestion: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD), otherwise known as sinus histiocytosis with massive lymphadenopathy (SHML), is a very rare and typically benign disorder of unknown etiology with <10% bone involvement. The report is of a case seen at the authors' hospital of a patient presenting with several months' onset unspecified nontraumatic ankle pain. There was no physical mass or lymphadenopathy appreciated on examination.

Evaluation of Deep Neural Network ProSPr for Accurate Protein Distance Predictions on CASP14 Targets.

The field of protein structure prediction has recently been revolutionized through the introduction of deep learning. The current state-of-the-art tool AlphaFold2 can predict highly accurate structures; however, it has a prohibitively long inference time for applications that require the folding of hundreds of sequences. The prediction of protein structure annotations, such as amino acid distances, can be achieved at a higher speed with existing tools, such as the ProSPr network.
