The study aimed to analyze spatial patterns and time trends in leprosy-related mortality in the State of Piauí, Brazil, from 2000 to 2015. This was a mixed ecological study with a spatial and temporal state-based approach, using data from the Brazilian Mortality Information System. The analysis includes epidemiological characteristics, mortality trends by Joinpoint regression, and spatial analysis, using the state's 224 municipalities (counties) as the geographic unit.

The study aimed to analyze the magnitude and sociodemographic profile of leprosy cases linked to household contact networks with overlapping of the disease in two Brazilian municipalities (counties), one in the North and the other in the Northeast, from 2001 to 2014. This was a cross-sectional, descriptive, analytical study based on primary and secondary data from new leprosy cases in Picos, Piauí State, and Rolim de Moura, Rondônia State. "Overlapping" was defined as new cases with the occurrence of at least one more leprosy case in the individual's household contact network.

The study sought to analyze the magnitude of occurrence and the sociodemographic, economic and clinical profiles of leprosy associated with household social networks (HSN), with disease overlap in cities from the states of Bahia, Piauí and Rondônia, Brazil, from 2001 to 2014. This is a cross-sectional study using primary and secondary data regarding new cases of leprosy notified to the Brazilian Information System for Notifiable Diseases (SINAN, in Portuguese) residing in the cities. This is a case study, developed in a health center in Teresina-PI, which dealt with the issue of nursing assistance given to a patient with Multibacillary Leprosy, focusing on the Transcultural Nursing care, Diagnosis and Nursing Interventions according to NANDA Taxonomy II. A semi-structured interview and participant observation were carried out, which enabled data collection handled according to normative patterns, values and daily practices, ways of popular care and cares required in the professional system. In this study, we realized that nursing assistance planning aimed, especially, to contribute on the disease treatment support, reducing potential risks and using preservation, negotiation and re-standardization of the professional system.

This study aimed to identify the reasons which made mothers wean their children early and analyze their knowledge on breastfeeding. It is about a research of qualitative approach and was developed in Teresina-Pi, with 11(eleven) mothers, aged between 18 and 43 years old, who weaned early. The reports of the subjects, from the semi-structured interview, enabled the emergence of two categories: Understanding on breastfeeding and Factors that led to early weaning.

Bibliographical study that sought to identify the scientific production about humanization and nursing assistance to normal childbirth. The sources were scientific articles from SCIELO-Brasil's database, from 2000 to 2007.
