A method for classifying family interaction behavior is presented that underlies several related studies of variation in families' modes of interpreting and interacting with the social environment. Evidence is presented for the existence of three dimensions of family problem-solving behavior that: (a) are consistent with theory of variation in families' orientations to the environment; (b) are useful for interpreting differences within nonclinical as well as clinical samples of families; and (c) have been shown, with current samples' ranges, to be essentially independent of surface markers of family variation and accumulated skills of family members.

For prophylaxis of peritonitis a simple microbiological patient self-check method was developed. By regular twice daily cultivation of dialysate drainage in a tube with nutrient medium (= Dialysate-Digest Medium-tube method) a latent peritoneal infection can be detected before the symptoms of peritonitis appear. The outbreak of peritonitis can then be prevented by early antibiotic treatment.

A number of significant radiological pictures of spontaneous biliodigestive fistula are presented. The aetiopathogenesis, pathological anatomy and clinical medicine of the condition are reviewed and the techniques available for the radiological investigation of biliodigestive short-circuits considered; the most frequent radiological signs and corresponding pictures are discussed and the complications and differential diagnosis with duodeno-biliar reflow examined.
