Collagen and Vascular Changes in the Scapholunate Ligament Following Injury: An Immunohistochemical Study.

Purpose: The scapholunate ligament (SLL) is the most frequently injured wrist ligament. The aim of this study was to investigate cellular and extracellular changes within the SLL following injury.

Methods: Fifteen SLLs were harvested, ranging between 39 days to 20 years from time of injury.

Purpose: Scapholunate ligaments (SLLs) play a well-established role in maintaining carpal alignment and kinematics, and are innervated with sensory mechanoreceptors located within the ligaments. They are involved in the afferent arc of dynamic wrist stability. The aim of this study was to describe the changes in these mechanoreceptor populations in injured SLLs.

Health chatbots acceptability moderated by perceived stigma and severity: A cross-sectional survey.

Background: Chatbots and virtual voice assistants are increasingly common in primary care without sufficient evidence for their feasibility and effectiveness. We aimed to assess how perceived stigma and severity of various health issues are associated with the acceptability for three sources of health information and consultation: an automated chatbot, a General Practitioner (GP), or a combination of both.

Functional Recovery Following Trapeziectomy and Ligament Reconstruction and Tendon Interposition: A Prospective Longitudinal Study.

Purpose: Patients undergoing surgery for trapeziometacarpal (TMC) joint arthritis require preoperative counseling on the expectations of surgery. This study aims to document the objective and functional recovery over the initial 12 months following trapeziectomy and ligament reconstruction with tendon interposition (LRTI).

Methods: We prospectively followed 55 patients with symptomatic TMC joint osteoarthritis after trapeziectomy and LRTI.

Ibrutinib for mantle cell lymphoma at first relapse: a United Kingdom real-world analysis of outcomes in 211 patients.

Ibrutinib is an established treatment for relapsed/refractory (R/R) mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) and clinical trial data supports use at second line compared to later relapse. We aimed to investigate outcomes and tolerability for ibrutinib when given second line in a real-world setting. Our multicentre retrospective analysis included 211 R/R MCL patients, median age 73 years, receiving ibrutinib second-line within the United Kingdom's National Health Service.

Chest keloids: effect of surgical excision and adjuvant radiotherapy on recurrence, a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Chest keloids are a difficult sub-group of scars to treat, likely secondary to the high wound tension in the area that promotes excessive fibroblast proliferation and collagen deposition. Excision and adjuvant radiotherapy has been demonstrated as an efficacious treatment for keloids in general, but no meta-analysis exists to support the claims for chest keloids. This study aims to identify the rate of recurrence after surgical resection and radiotherapy on patients with chest keloids.

Acceptability of artificial intelligence (AI)-led chatbot services in healthcare: A mixed-methods study.

Background: Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly being used in healthcare. Here, AI-based chatbot systems can act as automated conversational agents, capable of promoting health, providing education, and potentially prompting behaviour change. Exploring the motivation to use health chatbots is required to predict uptake; however, few studies to date have explored their acceptability.
