Management of Cancer Therapy-Induced Oral Mucositis Using Photobiomodulation Therapy: An Overview of Systematic Reviews.

To systematically summarize the evidence for photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) in the prevention and treatment of oral mucositis (OM) in patients undergoing cancer treatment. An electronic search was conducted in 8 databases and grey literature. PBMT is recommended for the management of OM resulting from cancer treatment, with several systematic reviews (SRs) being published in recent years on this topic.

Mismatch Repair Proteins in Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Retrospective Observational Study.

Five-year cryopreservation at -80 °C of edible and medicinal basidiomycetes by wheat grain technique.

This research has focused on basidiomycete cryopreservation at -80 °C and developed a cryopreservation method based on the use of hard or medium-hard endosperm wheat grains as a mycelial carrier for cryopreservation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the mycelial viability of edible and medicinal basidiomycetes, using 13 strains of Agaricus spp. and eight strains of non-Agaricus spp.

Results of Ponseti Brasil Program: Multicentric Study in 1621 Feet: Preliminary Results.

Background: The Ponseti method has been shown to be the most effective treatment for congenital clubfoot. The current challenge is to establish sustainable national clubfoot treatment programs that utilize the Ponseti method and integrate it within a nation's governmental health system. The Brazilian Ponseti Program (Programa Ponseti Brasil) has increased awareness of the utility of the Ponseti method and has trained >500 Brazilian orthopaedic surgeons in it.

Classification of cassava genotypes based on qualitative and quantitative data.

We evaluated the genetic variation of cassava accessions based on qualitative (binomial and multicategorical) and quantitative traits (continuous). We characterized 95 accessions obtained from the Cassava Germplasm Bank of Embrapa Mandioca e Fruticultura; we evaluated these accessions for 13 continuous, 10 binary, and 25 multicategorical traits. First, we analyzed the accessions based only on quantitative traits; next, we conducted joint analysis (qualitative and quantitative traits) based on the Ward-MLM method, which performs clustering in two stages.

Fracture resistance of weakened teeth restored with condensable resin with and without cusp coverage.

Objectives: This in vitro study evaluated the fracture resistance of weakened human premolars (MOD cavity preparation and pulp chamber roof removal) restored with condensable resin composite with and without cusp coverage.

Material And Methods: Thirty human maxillary premolars were divided into three groups: Group A (control), sound teeth; Group B, wide MOD cavities prepared and the pulp chamber roof removed and restored with resin composite without cusp coverage; Group C, same as Group B with 2.0 mm of buccal and palatal cusps reduced and restored with the same resin.

[Distal radius fractures: consistency of the classifications].

Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the intra-observer and interobserver reproducibility of Frykman, AO and Universal classifications for the fractures of the distal radius.

Methods: In this study, 40 radiographs of fractures of the distal radius were selected and classifed by orthopedists of different centers and levels of experience, determining the intra-observer and interobserver reproducibility of the classifications using Kappa statistic method.

Results: The medium intra-observer concordance observed was moderate to Frykman and Universal classifications and light to the AO system.

Autosomal recessive malformation syndrome with minor manifestation in the heterozygotes: a preliminary report of a possible new syndrome.

We describe 3 patients with a new malformation syndrome in 2 sibships in a large kindred from Bahia, Brazil. The parents in both sibships are consanguineous. The syndrome is characterized by malformations of the face, ears, hands and feet, plus mixed deafness and pseudopapilledema.
