Background The detection of in-stent restenosis (ISR) with coronary CT angiography (CCTA) is challenging, but CT perfusion (CTP) has demonstrated improved diagnostic accuracy over CCTA in patients with stents. However, there are limited data on the performance of dynamic CTP, which allows noninvasive adjudication of regional myocardial blood flow. Purpose To compare the diagnostic performance of regadenoson-stress dynamic CTP with that of CCTA, using fractional flow reserve (FFR) and the index of microvascular resistance (IMR) as reference standards for epicardial coronary circulation and coronary microcirculation, respectively.

The role of ventral hippocampus (vHipp) astroglial gliotransmission in depression was studied using chronic restraint stress (CRS) and chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) rodent models. CRS increased Cx43 hemichannel activity and extracellular glutamate levels in the vHipp and blocking astroglial Cx43 hemichannel-dependent gliotransmission during CRS prevented the development of depression and glutamate buildup. Moreover, the acute blockade of Cx43 hemichannels induced antidepressant effects in rats previously subjected to CRS or CUMS.

Transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve replacement is the preferred primary access route whenever possible. Despite advancements in expertise and delivery system profiles, complications associated with the primary femoral access still significantly affect procedural morbidity and outcomes. The current standard for accurate main access planning involves proper preprocedural evaluation guided by computed tomography.

Unlabelled: Root canal morphology and its anatomical variations pose a great challenge to endodontists.

Aim: The aim of this in silico study was to perform a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the threedimensional morphological characteristics of the isthmus in the mesial root canals of mandibular molars using microcomputed tomography (micro-CT).

Material And Method: Six hundred first mandibular molars were selected, including 317 with two mesial canals with isthmuses between the canals, and fully formed root.

Objectives: The study aimed to compare the efficacy of XP-endo Finisher and Passive Ultrasonic Irrigation (PUI) in removing hard tissue debris from curved canals.

Materials And Methods: Thirty-four mandibular molars with Vertucci's type II mesial canals were scanned in microcomputed tomography before and after preparation with HyFlex EDM, and accumulated hard tissue debris was quantified. Subsequently, the teeth were randomly divided into two groups according to the supplementary procedure: PUI with the Ultra-X insert or XP-endo Finisher.

Multicomponent reactions were performed to develop novel α,β-unsaturated carbonyl depsipeptides and peptoids incorporating various chromophores such as cinnamic, coumarin, and quinolines. Thus, through the Passerini and Ugi multicomponent reactions (P-3CR and U-4CR), we obtained thirteen depsipeptides and peptoids in moderate to high yield following the established protocol and fundamentally varying the electron-rich carboxylic acid as reactants. UV/Vis spectroscopy was utilized to study the photophysical properties of the newly synthesized compounds.

Bullying is an aggressive and repetitive behavior, where one person or several people physically, socially, or emotionally harm a vulnerable person and provokean imbalance of power in a school setting. Several factors such as age, sex, school performance, psychological factors, and ethnicity have been associated with bullying and more are being sought. Thus, the objectives of this study were as follows: (1) analyze the differences in bullying (victimization and aggression) and self-concept (academic, social, emotional, family, and physical) with respect to sex, school location, and educational level among Spanish adolescents; (2) explore the associations of bullying and self-concept with these sociodemographic dimensions.

Article Synopsis
  • Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TTS) is shown to have long-term effects on the hemostatic system, with patients exhibiting accelerated clot formation and higher levels of platelet activation even years after the initial event.
  • In a study of women with TTS, results indicated significant differences in clotting parameters compared to both healthy controls and those with coronary artery disease (CAD), pointing to unique pathophysiological changes in TTS.
  • Findings suggest that the persistent alterations in the hemostatic system in TTS patients may contribute to recurrent events, highlighting the need for tailored antiplatelet therapy to mitigate adverse outcomes.

Background: Primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI) performed for STEMI may be complicated by the "no-reflow" phenomenon.

Aims: A super-selective intracoronary injection of saline solution through a thrombus aspiration catheter (SALINE technique), was investigated for the treatment of no-reflow as compared with the standard care of therapy (SCT).

Methods: Among the 1471 patients with STEMI undergoing pPCI between May 2015 and June 2020, 168 patients developed no-reflow.

Background: This study aimed to provide population norms among children and adolescents in Chile using the EQ-5D-Y-3L questionnaire and to examine its feasibility and validity among body weight statuses.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional study in which 2204 children and adolescents (aged 8-18 years) from Chile completed a set of questionnaires providing sociodemographic, anthropometric and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) data using the five EQ-5D-Y-3L dimensions and its visual analogue scale (EQ-VAS). Descriptive statistics of the five dimensions and the EQ-VAS were categorized into body weight status groups for the EQ-5D-Y-3L population norms.

Background: Initial data about the performance of the new-generation SAPIEN 3 Ultra (S3U) valve are highly promising. However, evidence about the longer-term performance and safety of the S3U is scarce.

Aims: We aimed to investigate the 1-year clinical and echocardiographic outcomes of transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) using the S3U compared with its predecessor, the SAPIEN 3 valve (S3).

Background: Conduction disorders (CD) are the most common complications after Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI). The last generation of Edwards balloon expandable valves, the SAPIEN 3 Ultra (S3U), is provided with an external sealing skirt that aims to further reduce paravalvular leakage (PVL) compared to SAPIEN 3 (S3) and could potentially lead to higher CD rate. We sought to investigate the rate of new-onset CD in patients undergoing TAVI with the S3 or S3U valve.

  • One third of the global population experiences pain, and physical inactivity contributes to reduced fitness and increased pain prevalence.
  • A study in Spain analyzed the connections between physical activity levels and various pain-related factors, using data from 17,777 participants from the 2017 Spanish National Health Survey.
  • The findings indicate that higher physical activity levels are associated with lower pain prevalence and intensity, fewer limitations on daily activities, and reduced reliance on pain medication among the Spanish population.

  • Single-chain variable fragments (scFv) like iKM33 can target and inhibit blood coagulation factor VIII (FVIII), making them useful for research into FVIII functions.* -
  • The study expressed three variants of iKM33 with thrombin cleavage sites, which maintained strong binding to FVIII and dissociated into their components upon cleavage, but still inhibited FVIII activity.* -
  • Results suggest that both the separated V and V components of scFv can reassemble into a functional binding unit, indicating potential for utilizing these modified scFvs in therapeutics, diagnostics, and research applications.*
