Background: stevia and D-tagatose have shown a reduction in total calorie and carbohydrate intake as a substitute for sucrose, demonstrating a stabilizing effect on pH and bacterial proliferation. Objective: to evaluate the effect of D-tagatose, stevia and sucrose on salivary pH and bacterial activity in odontology students. Methodology: a controlled study of parallel and randomized groups with a single blind, whose sample considered three groups subjected to a mouthwash of D-tagatose (n = 10), stevia (n = 10) and sucrose (n = 10).

Objective: Given the high prevalence of caries and periodontal disease globally, and its cumulative process from an early age, effective strategies are required to influence healthy habits that are formed in a sustainable manner, taking advantage of common spaces such as school. The objective was to evaluate for 72 months an oral health prevention strategy in schoolchildren.

Methods: This quasi-experimental study considered an initial sample of 350 students with similar cultural and socioeconomic conditions, which was later reduced to 220, after the 72 months.

Objective: Characterising the oral health of patients undergoing different types of dialysis or kidney transplant.

Materials And Methods: This was a descriptive study which involved multivariate analysis of information taken from an initial database regarding 336 patients; 49 % were receiving haemodialysis, 34 % peritoneal dialysis, 7 % pre-dialysis and 10 % kidney transplant. Illustrative variables were age, gender, marital status, occupation, education, oral hygiene and gingival indexes, flossing, decayed, missing, and filled teeth (DMFT) index, renal disease aetiology and type of dialysis being received.
