Management of the axilla following neoadjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer- A change in practice.

Objectives: Chemotherapy in the neo adjuvant setting has allowed downsizing of breast tumours thus allowing patients to benefit from breast conservation surgery. The effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) has also been observed in the axilla but most units are still treating the axilla with axillary lymph node dissection (ALND).

Materials And Methods: A prospective database of breast cancer patients receiving NAC between 2007 and 2016 at a single breast unit was reviewed.

[Late-onset atopic dermatitis with nummular pattern].

Background: Adults with atopic dermatitis have had a persistent form in childhood or with an onset after the age of eighteen years. Late-onset atopic dermatitis may present with clinical heterogeneity and it often lacks the classic pattern of flexural dermatitis.

Clinical Case: A 26-year-old man with allergic rhinitis, with late-onset eczema, and an atypical nummular pattern on his trunk and limbs.

Imaging mass spectrometry assists in the classification of diagnostically challenging atypical Spitzoid neoplasms.

Background: Previously, using imaging mass spectrometry (IMS), we discovered proteomic differences between Spitz nevi and Spitzoid melanomas.

Objective: We sought to determine whether IMS can assist in the classification of diagnostically challenging atypical Spitzoid neoplasms (ASN), to compare and correlate the IMS and histopathological diagnoses with clinical behavior.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective collaborative study involving centers from 11 countries and 11 US institutions analyzing 102 ASNs by IMS.

Clouston syndrome associated with eccrine syringofibroadenoma.

Eccrine syringofibroadenoma is a rare benign neoplasia derived from acrosyryngium cells of the eccrine sudoriferous glands. It affects the extremities of elderly individuals as solitary tumors, or may also present as multiple lesions. There are controversies about the pathogenesis and differentiation of the tumor.

Radioguided occult lesion localisation (ROLL) is available in the UK for impalpable breast lesions.

Introduction: To test the feasibility and reliability of ROLL in a district general hospital (DGH) dealing with screening detected breast lesions.
