Intracranial schwannomas (ICS) unrelated to the cranial nerves are extremely rare; around 70 cases have been reported worldwide. The available literature consists of case reports and small series that present variable characteristics distinguishing these lesions. Brain parenchyma schwannomas are typically benign tumors with currently unknown origins.

The electrorheological (ER) effect was experimentally observed in dielectric suspensions containing tungsten oxide (WO) modified with surfactant molecules (sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and dodecylamine (DDA)) in electric fields up to several kilovolts per millimeter. The dielectric properties of WO suspensions in silicone oil were analyzed, depending on the frequency of the electric field, in the range from 25 to 10 Hz. Unmodified WO suspensions, as well as suspensions modified with sodium dodecyl sulfate, were shown to exhibit a positive electrorheological effect, whereas suspensions modified with dodecylamine demonstrated a negative electrorheological effect.

Spherical cellulose nanocrystal-based hybrids grafted with titania nanoparticles were successfully produced for topical drug delivery. The conventional analytical filter paper was used as a precursor material for cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) production. Cellulose nanocrystals were extracted via a simple and quick two-step process based on first the complexation with Cu(II) solution in aqueous ammonia followed by acid hydrolysis with diluted H₂SO₄.

The capabilities of cross-polarization optical coherence tomography (CP OCT) for early bladder-cancer detection are assessed in statistical study and compared with the traditional OCT. Unlike the traditional OCT that demonstrates images only in copolarization, CP OCT acquires images in cross-polarization and copolarization simultaneously. 116 patients with localized flat suspicious lesions in the bladder were enrolled, 360 CP OCT images were obtained and analyzed.
