1-Butane sulfonic acid-3-methylimidazolium tosylate, [BSMIM]OTs, is a remarkable catalyst for the cascade synthesis of coumarin-functionalized indole derivatives a tandem cyclization reaction of aniline and phenylglyoxal monohydrate. This reaction possibly proceeds through imine formation/nucleophilic addition/cyclization. In addition, this method shows lower -factors.

Towards novel tacrine analogues: Pd(dppf)Cl·CHCl catalyzed improved synthesis, docking and hepatotoxicity studies.

A plethora of 6-(hetero)aryl C-C and C-N bonded tacrine analogues has been made accessible by employing palladium mediated (Suzuki-Miyaura, Heck, Sonogashira, Stille and Buchwald) cross-coupling reactions, starting from either halogenated or borylated residues. The successful use of Pd(dppf)Cl·CHCl as a common catalytic system in realizing all these otherwise challenging transformations is the highlight of our optimized protocols. The analogues thus synthesized allow the available chemical space around the C-6 of this biologically relevant tacrine core to be explored.

Quartz crystal microbalance immunosensor for the detection of antibodies to double-stranded DNA.

We report the development of a novel quartz crystal microbalance immunosensor with the simultaneous measurement of resonance frequency and motional resistance for the detection of antibodies to double-stranded DNA (dsDNA). The immobilization of poly(L-lysine) and subsequent complexation with DNA resulted in formation of a sensitive dsDNA-containing nanofilm on the surface of a gold electrode. Atomic force microscopy has been applied for the characterization of a poly(L-lysine)-DNA film.
