Access to Oncology Medicines in Canada: Consensus Forum for Recommendations for Improvement.

Patient access to new oncology drugs in Canada is only possible after navigating multiple sequential systemic checkpoints for national regulatory approval, health technology assessment (HTA) and collective government price negotiation. These steps delay access and prevent health care providers from being able to prescribe optimal therapy. Eighteen Canadian oncology clinicians from the medicine, nursing and pharmacy professions met to develop consensus recommendations for defining reasonable government performance standards around process and timeliness to improve Canadian cancer patients' access to best care.

When tissue is not the only issue: Poorly differentiated lung squamous-cell carcinoma with adrenal, costochondral, and cardiac metastases - case report.

Nonmelanoma skin cancer is the most common cancer in the world, and lung cancer is the leading cause of death from cancer. Histologically, squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the second most prevalent type of both skin and lung cancers. We report the case of a 38-year-old female with metastatic, poorly differentiated lung SCC detected on chest X-ray after she presented to the hospital with cough and dyspnea.

Cardiac myxomas: clinical presentation, diagnosis and management.

Cardiac myxomas (CM) are the most common type of primary cardiac tumours in adults, which have an approximate incidence of up to 0.2% in some autopsy series. The purpose of this review is to summarise the literature on CM, including clinical presentation, differential diagnosis, work-up including imaging modalities and histopathology, management, and prognosis.
