An amphiphilic phosphodiester-linked azobenzene trimer has been exploited in the development of stimuli-responsive, water-soluble supramolecular polymers. The trimer can reversibly undergo thermal and photoisomerization between Z- and E-isomers. Its self-assembly properties in aqueous medium have been investigated by spectroscopic and microscopic techniques, demonstrating that E- and Z-azobenzene trimers form supramolecular nanosheets and toroidal nanostructures, respectively.

Important factors affecting the Buchwald-Hartwig cross-coupling reaction have been optimized. Seven new donor-acceptor tetrazine molecules (-) were conveniently prepared in good to high yields (61-72%).

In addition, we demonstrate a scaled-up synthesis of all non-commercially available starting materials that are required for the amination cross-coupling reaction. In the present article, we provide the detailed synthetic procedures for all of the described compounds, alongside their spectral characterization.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA novel synthesis of hybrid organic-inorganic lead halide perovskite nanocrystals (CH3NH3PbX3, X = Br or I) that does not involve the use of dimethylformamide or other polar solvents is presented. The reaction between methylamine and PbX2 salts is conducted in a high-boiling nonpolar solvent (1-octadecene) in the presence of oleylamine and oleic acid as coordinating ligands. The resulting nanocrystals are characterized by high photoluminescence quantum efficiencies of 15-50%, outstanding phase purity and tunable shapes (nanocubes, nanowires, and nanoplatelets).
