The COVID-19 pandemic has spurred the introduction of new devices and technologies into the organization of otorhinolaryngological care, the development of safety measures and clinical work protocols in order to increase the safety of doctors and patients. Virtual outpatient clinics have been integrated into the pediatric and basic outpatient services, the potential of which for pediatric otolaryngology is considered quite significant. In otorhinolaryngological practice, the transition to the expanded use of telemedicine technologies (individual gadgets for examining ENT patients, including a direct access otoscope connected to an otolaryngologist's computer) was especially significant.

The combined effect of close contact between child patients and otorhinolaryngologists, as well as the practice of aerosol-generating procedures, justify the need to take prompt organizational measures to reduce risks in the provision of pediatric otorhinolaryngological care in conditions of increased biological risks. In the pediatric ENT community, these adaptations have resulted in: judicious distribution of care to treat the most severe conditions, minimizing the risk of long-term consequences, ensuring the safety of child patients and healthcare workers through better communication methods, changing procedural precautions, the rapid introduction of telemedicine for diagnosis and treatment of patients, as well as the development of protective protocols to limit exposure to aerosol-generating procedures or manipulations to reduce the risk of exposure to a high viral load.

Background: Salvelinus is one the most species-rich genera of salmonids (Salmoniformes: Salmonidae), and mitogenomic sequence data have served as a rich source of information for resolving fish phylogenies and identifying new charr species. Dark matter elastic scattering off nuclei can result in the excitation and ionization of the recoiling atom through the so-called Migdal effect. The energy deposition from the ionization electron adds to the energy deposited by the recoiling nuclear system and allows for the detection of interactions of sub-GeV/c^{2} mass dark matter. The most immediate effects of the terminal-Cretaceous Chicxulub impact, essential to understanding the global-scale environmental and biotic collapses that mark the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction, are poorly resolved despite extensive previous work. Here, we help to resolve this by describing a rapidly emplaced, high-energy onshore surge deposit from the terrestrial Hell Creek Formation in Montana. Associated ejecta and a cap of iridium-rich impactite reveal that its emplacement coincided with the Chicxulub event.

Here we propose the conception of small-size piezoelectric accelerator of charged particles that operates due to the piezoelectric effect at varying mechanical force applied to piezoelectrics in vacuum. The accelerating voltage and the energy of accelerated particles are estimated. The geographic distribution pattern of mitochondrial DNA (control region) sequence polymorphisms from 73 populations of a salmonid fish, Dolly Varden Salvelinus malma, over most of its range in the North Pacific rim, was examined to assess how its spatial population genetic structure has been molded. The intraspecific polymorphism of Sakhalin taimen Parahucho perryi (Brevoort, 1856), Salmonidae, was assessed via the RFLP analysis of mitochondrial DNA fragments that contain Cytb, the control region (D-loop), and the genes for the NADH dehydrogenase subunits 1-4, as well as the sequencing of the mitochondrial DNA COI gene. The statistically significant differentiation of the populations from the mainland coast of the Sea of Japan and the eastern and western coasts of Sakhalin Island was demonstrated. The higher level of haplotype diversity in Sakhalin populations compared to Primorye populations and the structure of haplotype genealogies suggested that all populations of Parahucho perryi originated from a common ancestor, which probably lived on the western coast of the Sakhalin Island.
