[Tubular interstitial disorders in the nephrotoxic action of antibiotics].

Experimental and clinical evaluation of antibiotic nephrotoxicity suggest a conclusion that these drugs may cause tubular damage in relatively unaffected function of tubular apparatus. Progression of tubular dysfunction results from accumulation of high concentrations of antibiotics in renal parenchyma due to tubular filtration and secretion of the drug by tubular epithelium cells. In the majority of patients the disease manifestations were directly associated with antibiotics administration.

[Urinary enzymes in the assessment of the early stage of kidney involvement in psoriasis and diabetes mellitus].

The activity of gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT), alkaline phosphatase (AP), lactate dehydrogenase (LDG), N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminidase (NAG) was assessed in 53 patients with psoriasis (PS), 24 PS patients with affected kidneys, 50 patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus(DM). Enhanced activity of the enzymes occurred not only in nephropathy patients but also in those without proteinuria. AP and NAG were more active in PS, while LDG and NAG in DM.

[The recovery of the kidney filtration functional reserve in diabetes mellitus patients on captopril treatment].

Overall 42 normotensive patients suffering from type I diabetes mellitus without proteinuria were examined for the effect of hyperfiltration on renal glomerular function and for changes in glomerular function seen during medicamentous treatment of hyperfiltration. Ten patients with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus not associated with any signs of diabetic nephropathy were examined for the reserves of filtration renal function and early morphological alterations in organ tissues. The reserves of filtration were detected under the conditions of acute oral administration of protein (1.5 g/kg) as difference between the initial and stimulated levels of glomerular filtration (GF).

[The renal functional reserve in the nephrotic syndrome].

Functional reserves of the kidneys (FRK) were examined in 29 patients with the nephrotic syndrome and in 14 healthy subjects. FRK were determined as the degree of the increase of endogenous creatinine clearance after stimulation with beef protein (0.7 g per kg bw) or dopamine (3 micrograms/min per kg bw).

The significance of the assays of urinary enzymes activity in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus.

The hyperexcretion of urinary enzymes with systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) was assayed. 31 patients with confirmed SLE (30 women, and 1 man, age 16-33 years) were studied. Patients were divided into two groups according to the degree of kidney damage: 21 patients with proteinuria, and 10 patients without proteinuria.

[Incidence and nature of metastases of prostatic cancer based on autopsy data].

Pathways of lymphatic and hematogenic spread for prostatic cancer were studied versus tumor stage and patients' age. Metastases into regional lymph nodes were the most frequent, while bony and visceral metastases ranked second and third, respectively. Age-related peculiarities of dissemination were identified.
