Pelvic Ewing sarcoma is associated with a worse prognosis. Thromboembolic events are relatively common in pediatric patients with cancers including sarcomas. We have presented a case of Ewing sarcoma arising from the left iliac bone with tumor thrombus of inferior vena cava (IVC) which was obtained complete response by both chemotherapy and irradiation.

The National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines recommend providing CRRM to women with BRCA mutations who desire CRRM after risk-reduction counseling. However, in Japan, CRRM cannot be performed generally because it is not covered by health insurance.

Here, we show that GRIN3 is involved in regulation of dopamine-dependent behaviors and is essential for activation of the dopamine receptors (DAR)-β-arrestin signaling cascade. Analysis of functional regions of GRIN3 showed that a di-cysteine motif (Cys751/752) is required for plasma membrane localization.

However, cut-off values for these parameters remain undetermined, and these factors are not currently included in selection criteria for recipients of living donor liver transplantation (LDLT).
Methods: Using computed tomography of 657 donors for LDLT, skeletal muscle mass, muscle quality, and visceral adiposity were evaluated by using skeletal muscle mass index (SMI), intramuscular adipose tissue content (IMAC), and visceral-to-subcutaneous adipose tissue area ratio (VSR).
Sympathetic activation causes clinically important arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation (AF) and ventricular tachyarrhythmia. Although the usefulness of β-adrenergic receptor blockade therapy is widely accepted, its multiple critical side effects often prevent its initiation or continuation. The aim of this study is to determine the advantages of vidarabine, an adenylyl cyclase (AC)-targeted anti-sympathetic agent, as an alternative treatment for arrhythmia.

Since only five reports describing six tumors have been published to date, only a little is known about specific histologic findings and clinical features. Because of its rarity, hyalinizing clear cell carcinoma has not been described in the latest WHO classification of pulmonary tumors yet.

We performed right thoracotomy-laparotomy for lower esophageal and cardiac gastric resection, D2 lymphadenectomy, and reconstruction of a gastric tube in October 2011. Histopathology confirmed T4aN1M1(LYM), Stage IV cancer(Japanese Classification of Gastric Carcinoma, 14th edition) with R0 resection.

We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of rikkunshito in preventing CINV for patients with lung cancer. Two separate prospective, randomized, phase II parallel design studies were conducted in patients with lung cancer.

Histopathological findings were Ra, type 2, 70×80mm, tub1>tub2, int, pSI(peritoneum), INF b, ly1, v1, pN1(2/13), pPM0, pDM0, M1a(H1, PUL1), fStage IV . The lung metastasis had disappeared on chest CT after postoperative chemotherapy and we were able to perform radical resection of the liver metastasis by performing hepatectomy twice.

Intestinal prolapse approximately 80mm from the anus and a type 1 tumor 50mm in size on the mucosal surface were detected. The intestinal prolapse was manually repositioned, and the reduction of the intussusception was confirmed by computed tomography (CT).

XANES measurement is sometimes the only available technique for the evaluation of the valence state of a dopant cation, which often occurs in phosphor materials. The validity of the core excitation process should be examined as a basis for understanding the applicability of this technique.

Background: The effect of body composition disturbances has been recently in focus. Sarcopenic obesity, a co-occurrence of low muscle mass and high body fat was reportedly predictive of high mortality in patients with cirrhosis. However, the impact of the interacting sarcopenia and overweight on the outcomes after liver transplantation is still unclear.

A retrospective multicenter study of patients with metastatic lung tumors who underwent pneumonectomy was conducted.
Methods: The database from the Metastatic Lung Tumor Study Group of Japan was retrospectively reviewed.

What occurs in practice is brittle-like fragmentation, which is defined as the solid-like fracture of a material whose bulk rheological properties are close to those of a fluid. Through laboratory experiments and numerical simulation, the link between the inhomogeneous structure of bubbles and the development of cracks that may lead to brittle-like fragmentation was clearly demonstrated here.

We report meta- and para-selective linear alkylation reactions of anilides with alkenes by nickel/N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) and aluminum catalysis. With a less bulky NHC, the alkylation reaction of N-methyl-N-phenylcyclohexanecarboxamides proceeded mainly at the meta position. In contrast, a bulky NHC ligand led to the para-selective alkylation of N-sec-alkyl anilides.

Recent progress in kidney regeneration research is noteworthy. However, the selective and robust differentiation of the ureteric bud (UB), an embryonic renal progenitor, from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) remains to be established. The present study aimed to establish a robust induction method for branching UB tissue from hPSCs towards the creation of renal disease models.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed of 207 patients who underwent LDLT between January 2008 and April 2015. The quantity and quality of skeletal muscle were evaluated by the psoas muscle mass index (PMI) and intramuscular adipose tissue content (IMAC), respectively, using preoperative computed tomography imaging.
Aim: Bladder ruptures are commonly misdiagnosed as gastrointestinal perforations or intestinal ischemia. If a diagnosis is made preoperatively, conservative treatment is a safe and effective option. We evaluated the validity of using the attenuation value of ascites, measured by non-contrast computed tomography (CT), to identify patients with bladder ruptures.

Transmutation of long-lived fission products (LLFPs: Se, Zr, Tc, Pd, I, and Cs) into short-lived or non-radioactive nuclides by fast neutron spectrum reactors without isotope separation has been proposed as a solution to the problem of radioactive wastes disposal. Despite investigation of many methods, such transmutation remains technologically difficult. To establish an effective and efficient transmutation system, we propose a novel neutron moderator material, yttrium deuteride (YD), to soften the neutron spectrum leaking from the reactor core.

Nonetheless, the prognostic effect of LVI on TNM staging of stage I NSCLC remains inconclusive. We thus hypothesized that it might be better to upstage pathologic stage IA NSCLC with LVI to pathologic stage IB NSCLC.
