A pilot study for treatment of severe COVID-19 pneumonia by aerosolized formulation of convalescent human immune plasma exosomes (ChipEXO™).

This is a single-center prospective, open-label, single arm interventional study to test the safety and efficacy of recently described ChipEXO™ for severe COVID-19 pneumonia. The ChipEXO™ is a natural product derived from convalescent human immune plasma of patients recovered from moderate COVID-19 infection. In September 2021, 13 patients with pending respiratory failure were treated with ChipEXO™ adapted for aerosolized formulation delivered jet nebulizer.

Clinical course of pediatric large vascular anomalies located in the extremities.

Objective: Difficulties encountered in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular anomalies located in the extremities of the children. The most common vascular lesions are hemangiomas and venous malformations. The complex malformations, such as, Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome are much less commonly encountered lesions.

Objective: Inattentional blindness (IB) refers to an observer's failure to notice unexpected stimulus. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of the priming type (perceptual, conceptual, and no priming) and emotional context (positive, negative, neutral) on IB with behavioral (IB, non-IB) and eye tracking measurements (latency of first fixation, total fixation time, and total fixation count in response to unexpected stimuli).

Methods: A total of 193 volunteered male university students were invited in the study.

Chitosan-co-Hyaluronic acid porous cryogels and their application in tissue engineering.

In this work, the usability of chitosan-co-hyaluronic acid cryogels as a tissue-engineering scaffold was investigated. Chitosan-co-hyaluronic acid cryogels were synthesized at subzero temperature. Cryogels which were composed of various compositions of chitosan and hyaluronic acid (0, 10, 20, 30 and 50wt% hyaluronic acid) was prepared.

Zwitterionic phosphorylcholine grafted chitosan nanofiber: Preparation, characterization and in-vitro cell adhesion behavior.

In this study, zwitterionic phosphorylcholine grafted electrospun chitosan fiber was accomplished in three steps: (1) Azide groups on the chitosan were regioselectively replaced with hydroxyl side group and then the product was electrospun. (2) Chitosan based macroinitiator was prepared using an azide-alkyne click reaction from azide-functionalized electrospun chitosan fiber. (3) Poly(2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine) (MPC) was grafted onto the electrospun chitosan fiber by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) in order to enhance cellular viability and proliferation of 3T3, ECV and Saos.

Immobilization of α-amylase onto poly(glycidyl methacrylate) grafted electrospun fibers by ATRP.

In this study, novel α-amylase immobilized poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) nanofibers were prepared. The PVA nanofiber surfaces were functionalized with 2-bromoisobutyryl bromide (BiBBr) and followed by surface initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (SI-ATRP) of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA). The morphology of the poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) grafted PVA nanofibers was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Bilateral multiple tumor-like endobronchial tuberculosis, diagnosed with bronchoscopic examination.

Endobronchial tuberculosis is defined as tuberculosis infection of tracheobronchial tree and it is not seen often in adult population. In the absence of parenchymal disease endobronchial tuberculosis is less well-recognized and can lead to difficulties in diagnosis. Our aim is to introduce a rare form of tuberculosis that is important because of high probability of developing severe bronchostenosis during its course.

Laparoscopic extraperitoneal simple prostatectomy for benign prostate hyperplasia: a two-year experience.

Materials And Methods: Between October 2007 and July 2009, laparoscopic simple prostatectomy was performed on 16 patients with the prostates over 80 mL. All the patients were operated with transvesical method.

Percutaneous nephrolithotomy in children: does age matter?

Purpose: To compare the outcomes of percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) in 2 age groups.

Methods: Fifty-one renal units (RU) of 45 patients were operated between January 2006 and December 2010. In all patients, PCNL was performed by pediatric nephroscope of 17F size through a 20F Amplatz sheath.

Fournier's gangrene: an analysis of 80 patients and a novel scoring system.

Background: To create a better scoring system for outcome prediction for patients with Fournier's gangrene in order to design more appropriate and feasible management strategies.

Methods: Using logistic regression, the medical records of 80 patients who underwent surgery for Fournier's gangrene in the last 10 years were reviewed using a prospectively maintained database, and a novel scoring system was adopted combining this data with the Fournier's gangrene severity index (FGSI). The new system consists of a physiological score, an age score, and an extent of gangrene score.

Single-port extraperitoneal transvesical adenomectomy: initial operative experience.

Background: Laparoscopic extraperitoneal adenomectomy is occasionally performed for symptomatic large-volume benign prostatic hyperplasia. Two different multichannel ports were used during operations. We describe the technique of single-port extraperitoneal transvesical adenomectomy and present the initial operative experience.

[Vocal cord functions in patients with asthma attack].

This study was planned to evaluate vocal cord functions and to establish underlying vocal cord dysfunctions (VCD) in patients with asthma attack. All patients admitted to emergency service of our hospital with asthma attack between February 01, 2007 and June 01, 2007 were included in the evaluation. After the evaluation, all patients regarded to have asthma attacks based on GINA 2006 guide were enrolled in the study.

Treatment of retrocaval ureter by pure laparoscopic pyelopyelostomy: experience on 4 patients.

Objectives: To present our experience and the feasibility of pure laparoscopic pyelopyelostomy for treatment of retrocaval ureter (RCU).

Methods: This was a single center, observational prospective cohort study. 38 patients who were diagnosed with OSAS after polysomnographic analysis in sleep laboratory and diagnosed with MS according to National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III (NCEP ATP III) guideline and underwent CPAP treatment were followed for one year.

Experience with repetitive use of pimecrolimus: exploring the effective and safe use in the treatment of relapsing seborrheic dermatitis.

Background: Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) tends to reoccur frequently, so the therapeutic agent must have a high benefit versus adverse effect ratio for long-term and repetitive uses.

Objective: To assess the efficacy and safety of retreatment with pimecrolimus in SD patients.

Methods: A total of 45 patients who had been treated previously with pimecrolimus 1% cream were retreated with the same agent using the same treatment protocol after the disease reoccurred.

Introduction And Objectives: Urokinase is synthesized by various cells such as kidney, pneumocytes, and phagocytes. It cleaves plasminogen to plasmin and hence stimulates fibrinolysis. Urokinase breaks down the matrix protein within the stone and thus prevents stone formation and growth.

Evaluation of the relationship between heart type fatty acid binding protein levels and the risk of cardiac damage in patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.

The aim of this study was to establish cardiac damage related to nocturnal ischemia using heart type fatty acid binding protein (h-fabp), which reaches detectable levels in plasma after being released from myocytes in case of ischemia in obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) patients without coronary artery disease (CAD). Fifty patients diagnosed with OSAS in our sleep laboratory with polysomnographic analysis (PSG), who did not have any previous history of cardiac disease and in whom CAD was ruled out with myocardium perfusion scintigraphy, were included in the study. Control group comprised 19 volunteers without history of cardiac disease and risk factors in whom OSAS was excluded with PSG analysis.
