On the base of retrospective analysis of 927 cases of malignant neoplasms of the nose and paranasal sinuses, diagnosed and treated in 10 clinical centers in Poland from 1992-2001, the assessment of basic epidemiological data, including the localization of tumor, and stage of local and clinical advancement of the disease at the time of diagnosis has been conducted. In analyzed period of 10 years the trends to change the mentioned above parameters has been examined. The index of morbidity in this period was constant and compareable with figures published earlier.

Unlabelled: Metastases from primary laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancers to cervical lymph nodes is of great importance in designing treatment schemes. The aim of this study was to explain: (1) Do site of primary tumor, its stage and histological differentiation have significant influence on formation metastases to lymphatic nodes of the neck; (2) Do the lymph nodes metastases influence on results of treatment?

Materials And Methods: We have analyzed records of 586 patients with advanced cancer of larynx and hypopharynx, who were treated by surgery between 1975 and 1990 in Department of Otolaryngology Medical University of Warsaw The clinical stages of cancer was defined according WHO classification (1987).

Results: cancer of the larynx was diagnosed in 477 cases and in 109 cases--of hypopharynx.

The aim of this study was to present results of treatment of advanced laryngeal and hypopharyngeal carcinoma in 334 patients, who were treated by primary radiotherapy and salvage surgery in Department of Otolaryngology of the Medical University of Warsaw between 1975 and 1990. Cancer of the larynx was diagnosed in 295 cases and cancer of hypopharynx in 39 cases. Depending on the extend of the tumor different types of surgery were performed.

The authors present the case of bilateral internal jugular vein thrombosis, which was diagnosed in a patient after combined therapy (surgery and radiotherapy) because of laryngeal carcinoma. Thrombosis is the frequent complication and the second largest death cause from neoplasms. In review of the literature the cases of bilateral internal jugular vein thrombosis are uncommon.

The aim of this review was to present plasma cell neoplasms, their development, common features and classification. Extramedullary plasmacytoma (EMP) is a most often plasma cell neoplasm in the head and neck. 80-90% EMP cases concern to head and neck: 40% nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses, about 20% nasopharynx, 18% oropharynx.

The case of nasopharyngeal rhabdomyosarcoma was presented. 58-years old woman complained of sore throat, dysphagia and temporary hoarseness was treated in Department of Otolaryngology Medical Academy in Warsaw. The nasopharyngeal tumor extended between Rosenmüller's fossa level to base of the tongue, 3x2 cm in size.
