Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated the effects of a 4% icodextrin solution on preventing adhesions and its impact on anastomotic healing in rats, comparing various groups manipulated with icodextrin and surgical procedures.
  • Results showed that icodextrin significantly reduced adhesion scores compared to control groups, although it did not affect the healing of anastomoses between groups.
  • Biochemical analyses indicated that icodextrin treatment led to higher hydroxyproline levels and lower myeloperoxidase (MPO) levels, demonstrating its efficacy in minimizing adhesions without compromising healing.
