Residues of Tetracycline, Erythromycin, and Sulfonamides in Beef, Eggs, and Honey from Grocery Stores in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA: Failure of Cooking to Decrease Drug Concentrations.

This study evaluated the concentrations of tetracycline, erythromycin, and sulfonamide in beef, eggs, and honey products sold at grocery stores and whether standard cooking to 160 °F (71 °C) reduced the concentrations of antimicrobials spiked into the evaluated food products. In June 2021, the concentrations of selected antimicrobials in 65 samples (8 beef, 48 eggs, 9 honey samples) purchased from grocery stores within Knoxville, Tennessee, were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. The Kruskal-Wallis test was used to assess the differences in the median tetracycline concentrations across food types, while the Mann-Whitney test was used to compare the erythromycin residue concentrations between beef and honey.

Small ruminants, including sheep and goats, play an important role in the economy of American agriculture. They are susceptible to a variety of diseases that impact animal welfare and production. This study evaluated postmortem data from two different diagnostic laboratories in the state of Tennessee to discern common causes of death of small ruminants that were brought in for necropsy between 2017 to 2021.

The Oncology QCARD Initiative: Fostering efficient evaluation of initial real-world data proposals.

Purpose: The oncology quality, characterization, and assessment of real-world data (Oncology QCARD) Initiative was formed to develop a set of minimum study design and data elements needed to evaluate the fitness of the real-world data (RWD) source(s) proposed in an initial study concept as part of early interaction with scientific reviewers.

Methods: A multidisciplinary executive committee (EC) was established to guide the Oncology QCARD Initiative. The EC conducted a landscape review of published literature, guidances, and guidelines to evaluate relevant dimensions of data quality measurement.

Background And Objectives: Malaria can be fatal during pregnancy, posing a serious risk to both mothers and fetuses, especially in sub-Saharan Africa. Primigravidae are particularly susceptible to placental malaria in areas with high rates of transmission due to insufficient immunity. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of placental malaria infection, risk factors, types of Plasmodium causing malaria during pregnancy, and its relationship with neonatal birth weight among primigravidae.

How appraisals of an in-group's collective history shape collective identity and action: Evidence in relation to African identity.

This research tested the impact of how group members appraise their collective history on in-group identification and group-based action in the African context. Across three experiments (Ns = 950; 270; and 259) with Nigerian participants, we tested whether the effect of historical representations-specifically the valence of the in-group's collective history-on in-group engagement, in turn, depends on whether that history is also appraised as subjectively important. In Study 1, findings from exploratory moderated-mediation analyses indicated that the appraised negative valence of African history was associated with an increase in identification and group-based action when African history was appraised as unimportant (history-as-contrast).

Aging gay and bisexual men may have negative self-image due to body image dissatisfaction and internalized ageism, resulting in psychological distress. Gay and bisexual men with HIV may be at greater risk for distress because of research linking HIV to accelerated aging. Spontaneous haemoperitoneum in pregnancy in women with endometriosis: Diagnostic challenges and management strategies.

Spontaneous haemoperitoneum in pregnancy is a rare but potentially life-threatening condition that requires prompt recognition and management to avert a catastrophic outcome for the mother and baby. The main aim of this review is to summarise the current knowledge on this topic, including its incidence and clinical presentation, highlight the diagnostic challenges, and suggest management strategies. To achieve our objective, we examine the existing literature to provide insights into this complex clinical presentation to enhance our understanding and, in so doing, contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the subject of spontaneous haemoperitoneum in pregnancy.
