The aim of this study was to analyze the financial and economic risks of tilapia cage culture across different production water volumes (m³). The production water volumes evaluated were 10 to 50 thousand m³ (Small Volume, SV), 51 to 150 thousand m³ (Medium Volume, MV), 151 to 300 thousand m³ (Large Volume, LV), and >301 thousand m³ (Extra-Large Volume, ELV). Productivity and economic data were obtained from a commercial Nile tilapia cage farm with 232 net cages installed in a neotropical reservoir, in Brazil, from 2017 to 2019.

Human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-E binds epitopes derived from HLA-A, HLA-B, HLA-C and HLA-G signal peptides (SPs) and serves as a ligand for CD94/NKG2A and CD94/NKG2C receptors expressed on natural killer and T cell subsets. We show that among 16 common classical HLA class I SP variants, only 6 can be efficiently processed to generate epitopes that enable CD94/NKG2 engagement, which we term 'functional SPs'. The single functional HLA-B SP, known as HLA-B/-21M, induced high HLA-E expression, but conferred the lowest receptor recognition.

There are multiple well-documented diagnoses of physeal stress injury involving the shoulder, elbow, wrist and tibia, often considered when patients present with the typical history of intensive sports training and pain exacerbated by repetitive movements. However, isolated proximal fibular physeal stress injury is either unusual or under-recognized and underreported.

We present a case of an iatrogenic rectothecal fistula in a 34-year-old man who underwent repair of a congenital anterior sacral meningocele, intraoperatively complicated by rectal perforation. Postoperatively, the patient developed symptoms of meningitis prompting concern for the cerebrospinal fluid leak. Subsequent workup with computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated a postoperative pseudomeningocele and fistulization with an abdominal fluid collection.

Computational Studies of Snake Venom Toxins.

Most snake venom toxins are proteins, and participate to envenomation through a diverse array of bioactivities, such as bleeding, inflammation, and pain, cytotoxic, cardiotoxic or neurotoxic effects. The venom of a single snake species contains hundreds of toxins, and the venoms of the 725 species of venomous snakes represent a large pool of potentially bioactive proteins. Despite considerable discovery efforts, most of the snake venom toxins are still uncharacterized.
