Recent trends in two-dimensional (2D) graphene have demonstrated significant potential for gas-sensing applications with significantly enhanced sensitivity even at room temperature. Herein, this study presents fabrication of distinctive gas sensor based on one-dimensional (1D) WO nanofibers decorated 2D graphene, specifically coated on copper (Cu)-based interdigitated electrodes formed by DC sputtering, which can selectively detect NO gas at room temperature. The sensor device fabricated using WO/Gr1.

After PID tests with a bias of +1000 V, p-type c-Si cells without SiO layers underneath the SiN layers showed no degradation, although p-type c-Si cells with approx. 10 nm thick SiO layers showed polarization-type PID, which is characterized by a reduction of the short-circuit current density and the open-circuit voltage.

Oxygen-deficient WO moieties with multiple valences W and W have been investigated as an efficient electrocatalyst for the nonenzymatic glucose sensing. In order to highlight the importance of the defect, WO nanomaterial's electrode has also been synthesized and tested for glucose sensing.

Here we report the growth of oxygen deficit tungsten oxide (WO) nanorods modified with ruthenium oxide (RuO) using a simple and economical hydrothermal approach for energy storage application. In this work, a novel approach of hybridizing the WO nanostructure with RuO to control the electrochemical performance for energy storage applications has been proposed.

Quantum confinement effect in the nanocrystal-Si (nc-Si) was evaluated by Raman spectroscopy. The nc-Si dot layers were fabricated by the H2 plasma treatment for the nucleation site formation followed by the SiH4 irradiation for the nc-Si growth. Post-oxidation annealing was also performed to improve the crystalline quality.

In this technique, the electron beam from a scanning transmission electron microscope was on-off modulated while the sample was scanned. The resulting transient EBIC was analyzed to form a lifetime map.

In this study, the generation of crystalline defects in silicon substrates was evaluated. The distributions of small-angle grain boundaries were observed in substrates sliced parallel to the growth direction.

The sequence of BP-probe was chosen to form stem-loop structure similar to a molecular beacon (MB-probe), yielding bis-pyrene-labeled molecular beacon (BP-MB-probe). Partially double stranded (ds) BP-MB-probes were prepared by complexation with oligonucleotides whose sequences are complementary to the loop segment but not to the stem and exchangeable with the target DNA.

Methods: We administered General Health Questionnaire-12 (GHQ-12) as an indicator of psychological well-being to 330 male elderly workers in the age range of 50-69, and analyzed different psychological factors, namely sense of coherence (SOC), and physical and lifestyle variables such as blood pressure, serum total cholesterol, smoking frequency, alcohol intake, exercise frequency, and body mass index (BMI) that are related to GHQ-12.

A 52-year-old man presented with general fatigue and body weight loss. Chest X-ray and computed tomography showed bilateral, mediastinal and hilar lymphadenopathy. Laboratory tests revealed that peripheral eosinophils (1,850/microL) and serum IgE levels (1,610 U/L) were markedly increased.

Methods: A series of 82 patients with 28 well-differentiated adenocarcinomas, 40 moderately differentiated adenocarcinomas, 10 poorly differentiated adenocarcinomas, and 4 mucinous adenocarcinomas underwent color Doppler examination and surgical treatment. The waveform of blood flow in the thickened wall of the colon was analyzed by determining the maximum velocity (Vmax) and resistance index (RI).
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of zinc (Zn)-containing beta-tricalcium phosphate (Zn-TCP) in correcting the bone mineral deficiency noted in osteoporosis using ovariectomized rat model. Four rats were used for each of the four experimental groups: D0, D10, D20, and N10. The rats in D0, D10, and D20 groups were ovariectomized, and fed a vitamin D-, Ca-, and Zn-deficient diet, and induced Zn-deficient osteoporoses for 9 weeks.

The NK activity was measured by (51)chromium release assay. Central sympathectomy with intracerebroventricular injection of 6-OHDA significantly reduced the elevation of the plasma corticosterone level, the expression of Fos in hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus and in locus coeruleus, as well as the suppression of NK activity induced by cold stress at 4 degrees C for 4 h.

Stent assisted coil embolization is useful in treating broad neck aneurysms, and there are many kinds of stents that can be applied in the cerebral artery, however their characteristics are not well known. We investigated and compared morphologic and hemodynamic changes before and after stent placement when several different kinds of stents were applied to experimental aneurysms. Experimental aneurysms in eight pig carotid arteries were used.

The acquisition of ofloxacin resistance by a susceptible clinical Staphylococcus aureus strain was found to be achieved in two sequential steps: the first step was accompanied by 4-fold increases in the ofloxacin MIC and 8- to 16-fold increases in the norfloxacin MIC. The second step was accompanied by further increases in both the ofloxacin and the norfloxacin MICs. A mutation of the gyrA gene resulting in an amino acid substitution was found in the second-step but not in the first-step resistant subclone.

In cultures of Vibrio cholerae strains of Ogawa serotype, variant strains which had undergone serotype conversion from Ogawa to Inaba were identified. The rfbT genes cloned from the parent strains were found to produce a 31-kDa protein in the maxicell system, and to cause serotype conversion when introduced into E. coli cells expressing Inaba serotype specificity.
