Cadmium is a contributing factor to cardiovascular diseases and highly toxic to vascular endothelial cells. It has a distinct mode of injury, causing the de-endothelialization of regions in the monolayer structure of endothelial cells in a concentration-dependent manner. However, the specific molecules involved in the cadmium toxicity of endothelial cells remain unclear.

This single-arm, open-label, prospective study-ProLOGUE-was conducted to assess the effectiveness of brodalumab on self-assessed anxiety and depressive symptoms in Japanese patients with psoriasis.
Methods: Patients aged ≥ 18 years with plaque psoriasis without peripheral arthritis symptoms who had responded inadequately to current therapies were enrolled at 15 Japanese facilities and received brodalumab 210 mg subcutaneously.
Itching and skin pain are bothersome symptoms of psoriasis, but evidence is limited regarding the treatment effectiveness on these symptoms in daily clinical settings. We assessed the changes in the levels of itching and skin pain after brodalumab treatment in Japanese patients with psoriasis using patient-reported outcomes (PROs). Patients with psoriasis who have inadequate response to existing treatments were enrolled in the single-arm, open-label, multicenter, prospective ProLOGUE study and received brodalumab 210 mg subcutaneously in daily clinical practice.

Objective: To assess the effectiveness of brodalumab in achieving treatment satisfaction for real-life Japanese patients with psoriasis.
Methods: As part of a single-arm, open-label, multicenter, prospective study (ProLOGUE), Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) scores, body surface area (BSA), and Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire for Medication-9 (TSQM-9) domain scores were assessed at baseline and Weeks 12 and 48 of brodalumab treatment.
The predictive power of home blood pressure (BP) in the evening compared with home BP in the morning and office BP has been controversial. The predictive power of evening BP was compared to that of morning BP and office BP. The likelihood ratio test between one model containing a single BP index with traditional risk factors and a similar model further containing another BP index was used to assess whether the additional BP index significantly improved the adequacy of the model.

We studied the characteristics of GPP and pustular psoriasis using data from the West Japan Psoriasis Registry that had been registered until the end of December 2020.

The first PRES episode with confusion and the second PRES episode with vertigo and nausea were caused by MPA, hypertension and renal failure. These symptoms were improved by the reinforcement of MPA treatment and blood pressure management.

Objective: To assess the significance of Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) evaluation at the time of biologics introduction in clinical practice in Japanese patients with plaque psoriasis.

A 57-year-old man had a 2-year history of a painful nodule on the right sole. Physical examination revealed an 8 × 8 mm hyperkeratotic plaque with a central fissure. Excisional biopsy disclosed epithelial invagination surrounded by the acanthotic epidermis with parakeratotic hyperkeratosis and focal hypergranulosis.

The mean Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) scores at baseline were 12.9, 13.

Mycobacterial infection often develops after a long incubation period and might not have been adequately identified in clinical trials or post-marketing surveillance. To determine the real-world incidence of tuberculosis in psoriatic patients treated with biologics, we conducted a retrospective, multicenter, observational study in 18 facilities in Western Japan.

Sarcomatoid variant of primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma is rare and is a diagnostic challenge. Clinical manifestation often mimics that of an infectious disease. Predominance of spindle cells in the biopsy specimen prevents from suspecting lymphoma.
