- The study aimed to assess oxidative DNA and lipid damage in patients with peri-implantitis and peri-mucositis by measuring levels of 8-OHdG and MDA, and the activities of protective enzymes SOD and GPx in their saliva.
- A total of 60 participants, divided into three groups (20 peri-implantitis, 20 peri-mucositis, and 20 healthy), underwent clinical evaluations and saliva sample analyses to gauge their oral health conditions.
- Results showed that the peri-implantitis group had significantly higher levels of 8-OHdG and MDA, as well as worse clinical scores, indicating greater oxidative stress and tissue damage compared to the other groups.
