The specific detection of serum IgE antibodies specific to allergens (sIgE Abs) that can crosslink the plural high-affinity IgE receptor (FcεRIα) molecules on the surface of mast cells or basophils with a multivalent allergen can reduce the false-positive diagnoses observed in chemiluminescent and fluorescence enzyme immunoassays for type-I allergic patients. In this study, we detected sIgE Abs to the egg-allergen ovalbumin (OVA) and the wheat-allergen gluten in the sera of rats sensitized with each allergen using an amplified luminescence proximity homogeneous assay by crosslinking (AlphaCL). OVA and gluten were reacted with each sIgE Ab in the sera.

In this study, we developed a new assay method to detect allergen-specific IgE Abs, which involved crosslinking the plural FcεRIα molecules with an allergen and detection using an amplified luminescence proximity homogeneous assay (AlphaCL). First, the allergen concentration, bead concentrations, and incubation time were optimized for the detection of anti-2,4-dinitrophenyl (DNP) IgE Abs in buffer.

We retrospectively analysed 112 patients with high-risk prostate cancer who started WPRT at our hospital between August 2011 and August 2015. The prescribed dose was 78 Gy in 39 fractions to the prostate and 46.

In this research, the association between the change in the level of functional capacity and social network typology was explored over a two-year period. Participants were recruited from a community-based cohort study within Kashiwa City, Japan, and data from the years 2016 and 2018 were used.

Since tick bites represent the main cause of α-Gal sensitization, it was speculated that sensitization to α-Gal occurs throughout Japan. However, few cohort studies have investigated α-Gal sensitization in Japan.

We developed the Hokushin wheat line as a hypoallergenic wheat (1BS-18H) lacking ω5-gliadin, a major allergen of wheat-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis (WDEIA). The 1BS-18H wheat had lower ability of sensitization for ω5-gliadin compared with Hokushin wheat.

Conventional therapies such as compression sleeve therapy, complete decongestive physiotherapy, and surgical therapies decrease edema; however, they are not curative because they cannot modulate the pathophysiology of lymphedema. Recent advances reveal that the activation and accumulation of CD4+ T cells are key in the development of lymphedema.

Although various studies are being conducted to improve wound-healing therapy outcomes, the mechanisms of wound healing and regeneration are not completely understood yet. In recent years, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been reported to contribute significantly to wound healing and regeneration.

In this study, we aimed to develop a new method to detect functional anti-FcεRIα and anti-IgE AAbs, which can crosslink the plural FcεRІα molecules and IgE Abs on the surface of mast cells and basophils, in sera from aiCSU patients using the amplified luminescence proximity homogeneous assay (Alpha).
Methods: Sera were obtained from 14 aiCSU patients, as diagnosed by recurrent chronic spontaneous urticaria episodes and positive results for the autologous serum skin test and/or histamine release test (HRT).
Behçet's disease is an inflammatory disease which manifests itself as various symptoms, such as uveitis, oral and genital aphthae, erythema nodosa, gastro-intestinal ulcerations and encephalopathy. Among the manifestations, renal dysfunction is reported in some percentage of the patients with this disorder. We experienced a middle-aged male with Behçet's disease who showed an extremely high level of urinary β2-microglulin, which is one of the markers of renal dysfunction, despite normal serum creatinine levels.

Shrimp is a causative food that elicits food-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis (FDEIA). In this study, we sought to identify IgE-binding allergens in patients with shrimp-FDEIA. Sera were obtained from eight patients with shrimp-FDEIA and two healthy control subjects.

It was presumed that these patients developed allergic reaction upon cross-reaction of their IgE antibodies raised against grass pollen allergens to wheat allergens. This study aimed to clarify clinical characteristics and wheat allergens of this phenotype of WDEIA/wheat allergy, which were tentatively diagnosed as grass pollen-related wheat allergy (GPWA).

They can be suspected to play important roles in cell/tissue grafting for various neural diseases. The clinical applications of such trophic factors to the central nervous system (CNS), however, have caused problematic side effects on account of the distinctive bioactive properties.

Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) have been reported to promote lymphatic regeneration in lymphedema models, but the mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects remain unclear. Here, we tested the therapeutic effects of ADSC transplantation on lymphedema using a secondary lymphedema mouse model.

This study aimed to identify the needs of persons with dementia and their family caregivers participating in dementia cafés in Japan.
Methods: Interviews and participant observations were conducted in nine dementia cafés.

Bone-conducted ultrasound (BCU) is perceived even by the profoundly sensorineural deaf and a novel hearing aid using the perception of amplitude-modulated BCU (BCU hearing aid) has been developed. In the BCU hearing aid, the vibrator is pressed onto a part of the cranial bone behind the ear (mastoid process). However, BCU can be heard on distal parts of the body; i.

Material And Methods: Between January 2008 and December 2014, 130 consecutive patients treated for localized prostate cancer, receiving definitive iodine-125 (I) brachytherapy treatment were retrospectively analyzed. All patients underwent post-implant CT imaging for dosimetric analysis at 24 h and 1 month after implantation procedure.
Purpose: This study aimed to compare bowel and urinary health-related quality of life (HRQOL) between prostate-only (PO) volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) and whole-pelvis (WP) VMAT in patients with localized prostate cancer.
Methods And Materials: A total of 234 patients treated with definitive VMAT to 78 Gy in 39 fractions were enrolled. Of these, 108 patients received PO-VMAT and 126 patients received initial WP-VMAT to 46.
Purpose: To investigate optimal bladder volumes at treatment planning (TP) in prostate cancer patients who undergo volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT).
Methods And Materials: To determine the minimum value, 122 patients were classified into 6 groups according to the bladder volume at TP: <100 mL (group 1), 100-149 mL (group 2), 150-199 mL (group 3), 200-249 mL (group 4), 250-299 mL (group 5), and ≥300 mL (group 6). Bladder volumes receiving more than 70 Gy (V) and V were calculated in each subgroup and compared with the bladder dose-volume constraints specified in our institution.
