Some microorganisms, including lactic acid bacteria (LAB), can bind to mycotoxins. Its binding ability is useful for mycotoxin mitigation. Conventionally, the binding assay for this ability of microorganisms to mycotoxins has been performed by the so-called in vitro assay.

Ap/T-MCA can induce aneurysms due to the fragility of the vessel wall, consequently leading to subarachnoid hemorrhage. Herein, we report a case of Ap/T-MCA with subarachnoid hemorrhage without an aneurysm.

However, there are few detailed reports of pathological analyses of mitochondria and the factors that cause acute kidney injury (AKI) as a result of nephrotoxicity. In this study, we investigated mitochondrial damage in the proximal tubule in AKI mice at 6, 12, and 24 h after administration of diclofenac.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective study included 103 consecutive SNADET patients (103 lesions) who underwent CEMR, UEMR, or UEMR-SIM. The UEMR-SIM procedure included (1) marking and submucosal injection, (2) filling of the duodenal lumen with 0.
Buckwheat is an important pseudo-cereal crop worldwide. This study investigated whether long-term administration of buckwheat can suppress age-related cognitive decline in senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8 (SAMP8) mice. For 26 weeks, 18-week-old male SAMP8 mice were fed a standard diet containing 5% (/) buckwheat, Tartary buckwheat, wheat, or rice flour.

However, previous studies have shown that receptor conversion can occur between primary breast tumor and metastatic sites. Herein, we describe the case of a 54- year-old woman with advanced breast cancer, which showed receptor conversion from primary tumor(triple-negative)to distant metastases(Luminal type).

In this current study, a SAR study of the triterpenoid moiety of 2 and 3 has been performed and an oleanolic acid derivative (4) was identified as a novel HIV-1 entry inhibitor. In addition, the combination of 4 with several-type of HIV-1 neutralizing antibodies provided significant synergistic effects.

Patients And Methods: One hundred and fifty one metastatic UC patients who received first-line gemcitabine plus cisplatin (GC) salvage chemotherapy without a previous history of peri-surgical chemotherapy were included in this retrospective study. Patients with endogenous creatinine clearance of 60 mL/min or more were treated with a full dose of cisplatin, while those with 45-59 and 30-44 mL/min were treated with 75% and 50% doses, respectively.
Sarcopenia comprises a low skeletal muscle index (SMI) and low muscle strength (MS) or low physical function. Many sarcopenia biomarkers have been reported. With Crohn's disease (CD), a low SMI is predictive of intestinal complications.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFLimited information is currently available on predictors of upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) recurrence in non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) patients according to smoking history, although smoking probably contributes to urothelial carcinogenesis. Therefore, the present study aimed to identify independent predictors of UTUC recurrence in all patients and those with a smoking history. Our study population comprised 1190 NMIBC patients who underwent transurethral resection of bladder tumor.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjective: The indications of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) for lymph node-positive upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) have not been investigated regarding improved survival outcomes. Our specific aim was to compare the clinical outcomes of clinically node-positive UTUC patients who were treated by NAC followed by radical nephroureterectomy (RNU) or upfront RNU followed by adjuvant chemotherapy (AC).
Materials And Methods: Among 966 UTUC patients, we identified 89 with clinical nodal involvement who received either NAC before RNU nor AC after upfront RNU.
Background: The effects of the type of anesthesia (spinal (SA) vs. general (GA)) used for transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) on non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) recurrence and progression are controversial and our aim is to investigate their associations.
Methods: We identified 300 NMIBC patients who underwent initial TURBT with SA or GA.
Purpose: We herein compared the diagnostic performance of Vesical Imaging-Reporting and Data System (VI-RADS) scoring with diagnostic cystoscopy and evaluated diagnostic accuracies based on tumor locations.
Materials And Methods: Among 112 bladder cancer patients who underwent multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging and diagnostic cystoscopy preoperatively to detect bladder cancer, 61 were analyzed. VI-RADS was categorized into 5 stages by 2 radiologists (R1 and R2).
Esophageal achalasia is characterized by abnormal peristaltic movements of the esophageal body and impaired relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). However, its etiology remains unknown. In our previous study, it was shown that in the LES of patients with achalasia, hsv1-miR-H1 was overexpressed, ATG16L1 expression was downregulated and interleukin (IL)-1β levels were upregulated.

We investigated whether guideline adherence at the time of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer affects the oncological outcomes of bladder cancer patients who underwent radical cystectomy.
Methods: Among 267 cTa-4N0-2M0 bladder cancer patients, 70 who underwent radical cystectomy under the non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer or muscle-invasive bladder cancer status that progressed from non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer were identified.
A 23-year-old Falabella gelding kept in Tochigi, Japan, for more than 20 years presented with a recurrent mass of the glans penis that was first noticed about a year earlier. Partial phallectomy was performed with no adjunctive therapy for local regrowth of the mass. The horse was euthanized 3 months after surgery for urinary retention due to suspected regrowth.
