This study assessed the antioxidative and protective effects of peptide extracts from selected species on Aluminum Chloride (AlCl)-induced toxicity in (EHU), (EHI), and (EHG) were screened for bioactive peptides. The crude peptide extract and partially purified peptide fractions of all the plants were subjected to preliminary antioxidants activities through 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhyhdrazyl (DPPH), and nitric oxide (NO) scavenging activities. The most active peptide fraction was subjected to biochemical studies using Flies were treated with AlCl (100 mg/kg diet), peptide fraction (5 and 10 mg/kg diet), and cotreatment of AlCl and the fraction, respectively.

Tetrapleura tetraptera is a medicinal plant used in East and West Africa to treat inflammation and related diseases. From the stem bark of the plant, three previously undescribed flavan-3-ol derivatives named (2R,3S)-3,3',5',7-tetrahydroxy-4'-methoxyflavane (1), (2R,3S)-3',5',7-trihydroxy-4'-methoxyflavane-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (2), and (2R,3S,4S)-3,3',4,5',7-pentahydroxy-4'-methoxyflavane (3) were isolated with three known analogues. The structural elucidation of the compounds was performed based on NMR spectroscopy and HRMS data analyses.

Phytochemical investigation of the stem bark of Stereospermum acuminatissimum K. Schum. resulted in the isolation of 21 compounds, including two new guanine derivatives, 1,3,7-trimethylguanin-1/3-ium (1) and 3,7-dimethylguanin-1/3-ium (2), and one new phenolic long chain ester, 2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl hentriacontanoate (3).

A new diterpenoid, 15-angeloyloxy-16,17-epoxy-19-kauronic acid (1), along with five known metabolites, 16-kauren-19-oic acid (2), 6'-hydroxy-2',3',4,4'-tetramethoxychalcone (3), isosakuranetin (4), acacetin (5), and kaempferide (6) was isolated from the organic extracts of the roots of Chromoleana odorata. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic evidences. The structures of 1 and 2 were further confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies.
