Antibacterial Activity of Defensive Secretions from the Lace Bug (Drake) (Hemiptera: Tingidae).

Nymphs of (Drake) (Hemiptera: Tingidae) have numerous glandular setae on their dorsal abdomens. Chemical analysis of the exudates from these setae revealed the presence of 11 compounds, including aliphatic aldehydes, aliphatic ketones, and aromatic polyketides. Among them, 3-oxododecanal, 5-hydroxy-2-heptylchromanone, and 5-hydroxy-2-undecanylchromanone were identified for the first time in the family Tingidae.

Neuroblastoma in infants aged less than 6 months: is more aggressive treatment necessary? A report from the Pediatric Oncology Study Group of the Kyushu area.

Infants with neuroblastoma are known to have a better prognosis than older children. In Japan in 1985, mass screening for neuroblastoma in infants aged 6 months was introduced. With this policy, there has been an increase in the number of patients seen with neuroblastoma between 6 and 11 months of age.

Prolonged retention of a swallowed foreign body in the stomach following pyloromyotomy.

An unusual case of prolonged retention of a swallowed, round-shaped, magnet tack in the stomach of a patient is reported. The patient had had a previous pyloromyotomy for pyloric stenosis. Patients with a history of pyloromyotomy for pyloric stenosis may present special problems for the passage of foreign bodies reaching the stomach and may be more likely to require surgical intervention.

Traumatic lung pseudocyst.

Traumatic lung pseudocyst is an uncommon lung injury due to closed chest trauma. Four cases are reported; all were male and one was a child. Three cases showed spontaneous resolution of the pseudocyst and in one case, where resolution was slow, lobectomy was carried out at the patient's insistence.
