Background: To identify multimorbidity patterns, by sex, according to sociodemographic and lifestyle in ELSA-Brasil.

Methods: Cross-sectional study with 14,516 participants from ELSA-Brasil (2008-2010). Fuzzy c-means was used to identify multimorbidity patterns of 2+ chronic morbidities, where the consequent morbidity had to occur in at least 5% of all cases.

Introduction: Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) and depression comorbidity has been recognized, but its directionality is still uncertain. The aims of this study was to assess the association between depression (diagnosis and severity) and MetS (components, diagnosis and trajectory) in the baseline and over a 4-year follow-up period.

Material And Methods: Baseline and follow-up data from 13,883 participants of the Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Adult Health were analyzed.

Background: Multimorbidity is a worldwide concern related to greater disability, worse quality of life, and mortality. The early prediction is crucial for preventive strategies design and integrative medical practice. However, knowledge about how to predict multimorbidity is limited, possibly due to the complexity involved in predicting multiple chronic diseases.

Depression affects 264 million persons in the world, accounting for some 4.3% of the global burden of disease. Current studies indicate that the decrease in the consumption of omega-3 food sources is associated with the increasing incidence of depression.

Background: Optimum functioning of the central nervous system is dependent on a wide range of nutrients, so mental illness can be impacted by diet via several mechanisms. We aimed to investigate the associations of antioxidants (vitamin A, C and E, and selenium and zinc) and vitamin B complex (B6, folate and B12) intake with depression in 14,737 subjects of the Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Adult Health.

Methods: Baseline cross-sectional data was analyzed.

Unlabelled: According to Karasek, job strain results from an interaction between high demands and low decision latitude.

Purpose: To reassess the dimensional structure and evaluate the internal consistency of demand control support questionnaire (DCSQ), a shortened version of job content questionnaire that was not sufficiently evaluated in validation studies.

Methods: The study investigated 825 workers who completed the DCSQ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; to 399 workers, the questionnaire was self-administered at a hospital (2004-2005), and 426 workers were interviewed at nine restaurants (2006-2007).

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Odaleia Barbosa Aguiar"

  • - Odaleia Barbosa Aguiar’s research focuses on the intersection of mental health and chronic conditions, particularly examining the prevalence and patterns of multimorbidity and its association with depression in the Brazilian population through the ELSA-Brasil cohort study.
  • - Recent findings indicate that depression is a significant risk factor for metabolic syndrome, showcasing a complex interplay between mental health and physical health over time, as evidenced by both baseline and follow-up data analyses.
  • - The author also employs advanced methodologies, including machine learning algorithms, to predict multimorbidity, highlighting the importance of early detection and preventive strategies to manage chronic diseases effectively.
