Objective　This study explored the physical and mental health status and living conditions of fathers raising 0-year-old multiples in Japan compared with those raising singletons to gain insight into fathers' health issues and the need for support.Methods　Household and health data from the Comprehensive Survey of Living Conditions (2016, 2019, and 2022) were used. Because of the small number of fathers with multiples in each dataset, three datasets were combined.

Free glycerol causes a positive error in the triacylglycerol value in the total glycerol measurement method for canine and feline blood.

Two methods of measuring triacylglycerol (TG) in the blood are used in clinical laboratories. The glycerol-blanked TG analysis method is used primarily in Japan; the total glyceride measurement method is used in most countries, including the United States. The latter method includes free glycerol in the blood, which is known to be slightly higher in humans.

Alectinib maintenance therapy following cord blood transplantation for relapsed pediatric anaplastic large cell lymphoma with central nervous system involvement.

Pediatric ALK-positive anaplastic large cell lymphoma is a rare subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and approximately 30% of patients relapse following treatment with conventional chemotherapy. Alectinib monotherapy has demonstrated excellent activity in relapsed and refractory ALCL, but its role as a maintenance therapy after hematopoietic cell transplantation is unclear. We experienced a relapse case of pediatric ALK-positive ALCL with central nervous system involvement treated with alectinib maintenance therapy following cord blood transplantation.

Robust Weak Topological Insulator in the Bismuth Halide Bi_{4}Br_{2}I_{2}.

We apply a topological material design concept for selecting a bulk topology of 3D crystals by different van der Waals stackings of 2D topological insulator layers, and find a bismuth halide Bi_{4}Br_{2}I_{2} to be an ideal weak topological insulator (WTI) with the largest band gap (∼300  meV) among all the WTI candidates, by means of angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), density functional theory (DFT) calculations, and resistivity measurements. Furthermore, we reveal that the topological surface state of a WTI is not "weak" but rather robust against external perturbations against the initial theoretical prediction by performing potassium deposition experiments. Our results vastly expand future opportunities for fundamental research and device applications with a robust WTI.

Utilizing the Metaverse to Provide Innovative Psychosocial Support for Pediatric, Adolescent, and Young Adult Patients with Rare Cancer.

This study investigated the potential of the metaverse in providing psychological support for pediatric and AYA cancer patients, with a focus on those with rare cancers. The research involved ten cancer patients and survivors from four distinct regions in Japan, who participated in metaverse sessions using customizable avatars, facilitating interactions across geographical and temporal barriers. Surveys and qualitative feedback were collected to assess the psychosocial impact of the intervention.

Fermi Surface Nesting Driving the RKKY Interaction in the Centrosymmetric Skyrmion Magnet Gd_{2}PdSi_{3}.

The magnetic skyrmions generated in a centrosymmetric crystal were recently first discovered in Gd_{2}PdSi_{3}. In light of this, we observe the electronic structure by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and unveil its direct relationship with the magnetism in this compound. The Fermi surface and band dispersions are demonstrated to have a good agreement with the density functional theory calculations carried out with careful consideration of the crystal superstructure.

Benchmarking Deep Learning-Based Image Retrieval of Oral Tumor Histology.

Introduction:  Oral tumors necessitate a dependable computer-assisted pathological diagnosis system considering their rarity and diversity. A content-based image retrieval (CBIR) system using deep neural networks has been successfully devised for digital pathology. No CBIR system for oral pathology has been investigated because of the lack of an extensive image database and feature extractors tailored to oral pathology.

Objectives: Existing studies of fathers' involvement in childcare have focused on its impact on children's psychosocial development and the facilitation of family functions, like marital relationships. In this study, we investigated the factors that determine paternal childcare in Japan, particularly focusing on work-related hours and environment, separately, according to mothers' employment status.

Methods: We used data from the Longitudinal Survey of Newborns in the 21st Century (2010 cohort) conducted in Japan.

Correlation between Phase Angle and the Number of Medications in Older Inpatients: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Background: Muscle weakness in older adults elevates mortality risk and impairs quality of life, with the phase angle (PhA) indicating cellular health. Polypharmacy, common in geriatric care, could influence PhA. This investigates whether the number of medications and polypharmacy with PhA as a biomarker of muscle quality in older inpatients aged ≥65 and determines the extent to which multiple medications contribute to the risk of reduced muscle quality.

Background And Purpose: Stroke-induced dysphagia is a critical complication that can lead to severe secondary worldwide health issues. This retrospective cohort study investigated the association between phase angle (PhA) and swallowing function in the acute phase of stroke. We aim to establish whether nutritional and muscular interventions associated with PhA could enhance swallowing recovery and reduce related risks post-stroke.

Aims: The objective of this study was to present the outcomes of rotational acetabular osteotomy (RAO) over a 30-year period for osteoarthritis (OA) secondary to dysplasia of the hip in pre- or early-stage OA.

Methods: Between September 1987 and December 1994, we provided treatment to 47 patients (55 hips) with RAO for the management of pre- or early-stage OA due to developmental hip dysplasia. Of those, eight patients (11 hips) with pre-OA (follow-up rate 79%) and 27 patients (32 hips) with early-stage OA (follow-up rate 78%), totalling 35 patients (43 hips) (follow-up rate 78%), were available at a minimum of 28 years after surgery.
