Objective: To estimate the prevalence and risk factors for falls requiring medical attention, referred as medical falls, in community-dwelling persons aged >60 years. Methods A cross-sectional analysis was conducted using information from the Health, Well-Being, and Aging ("SABE") Study in Latin America and the Caribbean (7 cities), as well as from the SABE Bogota study (pooled sample of 8 cities n=12,487). Falls that occurred during a past 12-month period were considered and then noted if required medical treatment because of the fall.

Material And Methods: An observational, analytical, cross-sectional study was conducted in a nursing home between September and December 2017, with 100 participants.
Aims: Describe the local characteristics, methodology and results of the registry of acromegalic patients in Colombia (RAPACO).
Methods: Multicenter, retrospective study based on the registry of acromegalic patients in Colombia: RAPACO. The data collected included: demographics, diagnosis, approximate time of disease evolution, data on weight, height, body mass index (BMI), neck circumference (NC) abdominal circumference (AC) hip circumference (HC) and waist/hip ratio (WHR); clinical and biochemical data at the time of diagnosis, etiology, immunohistochemistry of the tumor and information related to types of treatment.

Paragangliomas are an infrequent type of neuroendocrine tumor that commonly produces catecholamines. We describe a case of a 14-year-old male with a history of uncontrolled hypertension who presented to the emergency department with a headache, palpitations, and profuse sweating. Symptoms were explained by the presence of a catecholamine-producing paraganglioma located at the right diaphragm.

Methods: The SABE (Health, Wellbeing, and Aging) Colombia project is a cross-sectional study, carried out in 2014-2015, involving 24,553 men and women aged 60 years and older who live in the community in Colombia. For this analysis, we used data from 4,474 participants included as a subsample with grip strength measurements.
Objective: To determine the relationship between estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and mortality in a retrospective cohort of older adults admitted to an acute care for the elderly (ACE) unit.
Materials And Methods: The study included 1,678 patients aged 60 years and over admitted to an AEC, in Cali, Colombia, from 2012 to 2015, and followed- up until 2016. The primary outcome was mortality.

Objective: To conceptualize institutional elderly caregiver in Colombia as formal caregivers.
Methods: A documentary review was carried out using a qualitative and descriptive approach, in order to analyze the work of institutional caregivers based on two dimensions: the internal dimension to realize their reality according to the study entitled "Institutional Caregiver: characterization, current situation and support networks - Colombia 2013", and the external dimension to recognize the perspective of the State and the academy on the issue.
Results: It was possible to see that, although Colombia has made progress on regulation matters, the country has not yet fully developed a care system for the elderly that articulates actors and responsibilities of care providers (individuals, families, civil society and the State).

Vitamin B12 deficiency or cyanocobalamin is a common condition in the elderly. It is repeatedly overlooked due to multiple clinical manifestations that can affect the blood, neurological, gastrointestinal, and cardiovascular systems, skin and mucous membranes. The various presentations of vitamin B12 deficiency are related to the development of geriatric syndromes like frailty, falls, cognitive impairment, and geriatric nutritional syndromes like protein-energy malnutrition and failure to thrive, in addition to enhancing aging anorexia and cachexia.
