Aging is accompanied by a decline in neovascularization potential and increased susceptibility to ischemic injury. Here, we confirm the age-related impaired neovascularization following ischemic leg injury and impaired angiogenesis. The age-related deficits in angiogenesis arose primarily from diminished EC proliferation capacity, but not migration or VEGF sensitivity.

In this study, we investigated age-related changes in clinical laboratory data and their association with mortality in dogs from the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study. By analyzing complete blood count (CBC) and biochemistry data from 2'412 Golden Retrievers over 16,678 visits, we observed significant changes during the first 2 years of life and throughout aging. Based on these observations, we developed a biological aging clock using a LASSO model to predict age based on blood markers, achieving an accuracy of R = 0.

Thyroid cancer progression from curable well-differentiated thyroid carcinoma to highly lethal anaplastic thyroid carcinoma is distinguished by tumor cell de-differentiation and recruitment of a robust stromal infiltrate. Combining an integrated thyroid cancer single-cell sequencing atlas with spatial transcriptomics and bulk RNA-sequencing, we define stromal cell subpopulations and tumor-stromal cross-talk occurring across the histologic and mutational spectrum of thyroid cancer. We identify distinct inflammatory and myofibroblastic cancer-associated fibroblast (iCAF and myCAF) populations and perivascular-like populations.

The human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) is a transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptor and tumor-associated antigen abnormally expressed in various types of cancer, including breast, ovarian, and gastric cancer. HER2 overexpression is highly correlated with increased tumor aggressiveness, poorer prognosis, and shorter overall survival. Castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) is associated with resistance to androgen deprivation therapy, and an increase in the population of neuroendocrine (NE) differentiated cells. It is hypothesized that NE differentiated cells secrete neuropeptides that support androgen-independent tumor growth and induce aggressiveness of adjacent proliferating tumor cells through a paracrine mechanism. The cytochrome b561 (CYB561) gene, which codes for a secretory vesicle transmembrane protein, is constitutively expressed in NE cells and highly expressed in CRPC.
