Gender inequalities in secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease: a scoping review.

Background: Despite significant progress in cardiovascular disease (CVD) management, it remains a public health priority and a global challenge. Within the disease process, health care after a cardiovascular event (secondary prevention) is essential to prevent recurrences. Nonetheless, evidence has suggested the existence of gender disparities in CVD management, leaving women in a vulnerable situation.

[Evolution of the presence of women in decision-making bodies of the Spanish national health system].

Objective: To examine the presence of women in the organs of the Interterritorial Council of the Spanish National Health System (CISNS).

Method: Annual reports of the CISNS from 2005 to 2022 were analyzed. Artificial intelligence was used to assign gender, and percentages of women's participation were calculated.

[Utility of the AGREE tool for the development and evaluation of clinical protocols: From theory to clinical practice].

Introduction And Objective: Clinical protocols are tools for the delivery of optimal and quality healthcare. However, there are often shortcomings in the quality of their design that invalidate their implementation. The aim of this study is to describe a systematic evaluation of clinical protocols, to analyse their quality in order to enable their implementation.

Gender health care inequalities in health crisis: when uncertainty can lead to inequality.

Background: In health crisis, inequalities in access to and use of health care services become more evident. The objective of this study is to analyse the existence and evolution of gender inequalities in access to and use of healthcare services in the context of the COVID-19 health crisis.

Methods: Retrospective cohort study using data from all individuals with a confirmed COVID-19 infection from March 2020 to March 2022 in Aragón (Spain) (390,099 cases).

[Coordination for an affective and sexual diversity approach to monkeypox].

In May 2022, the first monkeypox transmission chains were detected outside endemic countries. This outbreak presents clinical and epidemiological characteristics different from those observed in previous outbreaks, with a greater impact among the group of men who have sex with other men. The approach of epidemic outbreaks that requires interventions on communities or populations at risk of stigmatization is a major public health challenge.

Gaps in sexual health research about women who have sex with women. A scoping review.

Objective: To know the characteristics of the studies that have paid attention to women who have sex with women (WSW) and to identify possible gaps in the interest of comprehensive sexual health in WSW.

Method: A scoping review on sexual health on WSW was conducted from 2000 to 2019. Papers with lack of focus on sexual health on WSW were excluded and a web tool was used to guarantee blindness.

[Critically ill patient isolation: risk or protection?].

Introduction: Isolation precautions are an effective measure to prevent the spread of multi-resistant microorganisms (MMR). However, its implementation is complex and can increase some risks to the patient. The aim of this study is to determine whether the implementation of isolation precautions increase the risk of patient safety incidents (PSI) in critically ill patients.

[The road to patient safety: facts and desire].

Objective: To evaluate differences between the need and degree of implementation of safe practices recommended for patient safety and to check the usefulness of traffic sign iconicity to promote their implementation.

Method: The study was developed in two stages: 1) review of safe practices recommended by different organizations and 2) a survey to assess the perceptions for the need and implementation of them and the usefulness of signs to improve their implementation. The sample consisted of professionals from Spain and Latin America working in healthcare settings and in the academic field related to patient safety.

[Perception of surgeons on the use of antimicrobial stewardships programs].

Introduction: The misuse and overuse of antimicrobials can contribute to an increase in antimicrobial resistance, increasing the risk of infections caused by drug-resistant bacteria. Most common surgical pathologies are infectious (either primary or as a complication), often being over-treated. Exploring the perception of surgeons on the use of implementing Antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASPs) is relevant in order to adapt the program to local context.
