Improving the quality of life of people living with HIV/AIDS: A cross-sectional study of the role of religion.

Background: Previous studies have found religion as a useful tool in coping with chronic medical conditions including HIV/AIDS. Aim: This study assessed how religiosity and religious coping are associated with quality of life (QOL) among people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).

Patients And Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of 140 HIV clinic attendees of a Nigerian tertiary health facility.

Loneliness, life satisfaction and psychological distress among out-of-school adolescents in a Nigerian urban city.

Loneliness is the feeling of distress that arises when an individual perceives his or her social relationships as being less satisfying than what is desired. Life satisfaction is a global assessment of an individual's quality of life based on his chosen criteria. This descriptive cross sectional study assessed loneliness, life satisfaction and psychological distress among 480 out of school adolescents using the UCLA loneliness scale, the Satisfaction with life scale (SWLS) and the General Health questionnaire.
