A Rare Case of Juvenile Psoriatic Arthritis.

This is a case report of a one-year-and-nine-month-old girl with multiple guttate psoriasis skin lesions, non-traumatic knee arthritis, and no family history of autoimmune diseases. Laboratory tests revealed no suggestive markers of juvenile psoriatic arthritis (JPsA), while the dermatological examination described scaly erythematous lesions with a positive Auspitz sign. The diagnosis was confirmed by a skin biopsy and histopathological examination.

Novel Immunohistochemical and Morphological Approaches in a Retrospective Study of Post-Mortem Myocarditis.

This study presents a retrospective analysis of 26 autopsy cases from a single centre, primarily focusing on forensic cases, with a majority of male individuals. We systematically analysed autopsy reports and cardiac tissue slides using haematoxylin-eosin stain and immunohistochemistry for CD3, CD163, and IL-6. The histological assessment evaluated key variables such as inflammation severity, necrosis, and background changes using a standardised grading system.

Neutrophilic Myocarditis: Insights from a Forensic Centre's Retrospective Study.

Background: Neutrophilic myocarditis often stems from bacterial or fungal infections, and it is typically detectable through blood cultures or analyses of the primary infection site. However, research specifically addressing the morphological features of acute myocarditis in complex sepsis cases is scarce, with existing studies primarily dating back to the pre-antibiotic era.

Methods: This study constitutes a retrospective and descriptive analysis encompassing 22 forensic cases.

Mixed Heterotopic Gastrointestinal/Respiratory Oral Cysts in Newborns: From Prenatal Diagnosis to Histopathological and Therapeutic Management: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Fetal lingual tumors are very rare, and their early prenatal diagnosis is important for defining the subsequent therapeutic strategy. In this study, we aimed to describe a case of a congenital septate lingual cyst and perform an extensive literature review on two main databases (PubMed, Web of Science), analyzing the clinical manifestations, the imaging appearance, the differential diagnosis, and particularities regarding the treatment of these tumors. The electronic search revealed 17 articles with 18 cases of mixed heterotopic gastrointestinal/respiratory oral epithelial cysts that met the eligibility criteria and were included in this review.

Formulation and Characterization of Mucoadhesive Polymeric Films Containing Extracts of Taraxaci Folium and Matricariae Flos.

Taraxaci folium and Matricariae flos plant extracts contain a wide range of bioactive compounds with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. The aim of the study was to evaluate the phytochemical and antioxidant profile of the two plant extracts to obtain a mucoadhesive polymeric film with beneficial properties in acute gingivitis. The chemical composition of the two plant extracts was determined by high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry.

Fetal Pancreatic Hamartoma Associated with Hepatoblastoma-An Unusual Tumor Association.

Abdominal tumor masses are a very rare disease in the fetus. The authors present the first reported case of neonatal multicystic adenomatoid hamartoma of the pancreas associated with well-differentiated fetal epithelial subtype hepatoblastoma and reveal clinical, histologic, and imagistic aspects. Case presentation: A 36-week-old female newborn in whom a 25-week ultrasound showed a relatively homogeneous pancreatic echogenic mass (34 × 30 × 55 mm) with compression of the inferior vena cava and retrograde dilation.

Dysplasia Epiphysealis Hemimelica (Trevor's Disease) in Children, Two New Cases: Diagnosis, Treatment, and Literature Review.

Dysplasia epiphysealis hemimelica (DEH), also known as Trevor's disease, is a rare nonhereditary skeletal disorder affecting one side of the epiphyses or the epiphyses-equivalents. It is often misdiagnosed for traumatic injuries, infections, or other tumors because of the nonspecific clinical features. The diagnosis is mostly based on radiographic involvement of one half of the epiphysis displaying an overgrowth; it is hard to distinguish between DEH and osteochondroma on the gross hystopathological exam.

Myocarditis Presenting as Sudden Death in Infants and Children: A Single Centre Analysis by ESGFOR Study Group.

Background: Acute myocarditis is an inflammatory disease of the heart mostly diagnosed in young people, which can present as sudden death. The etiology includes infectious agents (mostly viruses), systemic diseases and toxins. We aim to characterize infants and children with myocarditis at post-mortem presenting as sudden deaths.

Addressing health inequalities by using Structural Funds. A question of opportunities.

Making up a third of the EU budget, Structural and Investment Funds can provide important opportunities for investing in policies that tackle inequalities in health. This article looks back and forward at the 2007-2013 and 2014-2020 financial periods in an attempt to inform the development of health equity as a strand of policy intervention under regional development. It combines evidence from health projects funded through Structural Funds and a document analyses that locates interventions for health equity under the new regulations.
