Exudative (wet) age-related macular degeneration can be treated with the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-inhibiting monoclonal antibody bevacizumab. Currently, bevacizumab therapy is associated with known skin-related side effects, such as rash, mucosal hemorrhage, and hemorrhagic ulcers. While subungual "splinter" hemorrhage is a documented side effect of VEGF receptor antagonists and Raf protein inhibitors, there are no prior reports of bevacizumab-induced subungual hemorrhage to the best of our knowledge.

Home, as a physical place and psychological construct, is often thought of as being an important locus of ontological security across the life course. However, there is a growing awareness of a darker side to the home (see Gurney, 2021), and home-unmaking practices (see Baxter and Brickell, 2014) that challenge the assumptions of home being purely a place of shelter, comfort, and control and instead foreground the temporal, material, and spatial fluidity of the home, and tensions between privacy and the ability to engage in health-harming behaviours largely unnoticed. Zika virus (ZIKV) infection causes significant human disease that, with no approved treatment or vaccine, constitutes a major public health concern. Its life cycle entirely relies on the cytoplasmic fate of the viral RNA genome (vRNA) through a fine-tuned equilibrium between vRNA translation, replication, and packaging into new virions, all within virus-induced replication organelles (vROs). Inositol pyrophosphates are eukaryotic signaling molecules that have been recently identified as key regulators of plant phosphate sensing and homeostasis. Given the importance of phosphate to current and future agronomic practices, we sought to design plants, which could be used to sequester phosphate, as a step in a phytoremediation strategy. To achieve this, we expressed diadenosine and diphosphoinositol polyphosphate phosphohydrolase (DDP1), a yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) enzyme demonstrated to hydrolyze inositol pyrophosphates, in Arabidopsis thaliana and pennycress (Thlaspi arvense), a spring annual cover crop with emerging importance as a biofuel crop.
