Background: Enumeration of residual DNA repair foci 24 hours or more after exposure to ionizing radiation (IR) is often used to assess the efficiency of DNA double-strand break repair. However, the relationship between the number of residual foci in irradiated cells and the radiation dose is still poorly understood. The aim of this work was to investigate the dose responses for residual DNA repair foci in normal human fibroblasts after X-ray exposure in the absorbed dose range from 0.

RT has generally been reported to be sharply limited by ionizing radiation (IR)-induced toxicity, thereby constraining the control effect of RT on tumor growth. FLASH-RT is the delivery of ultra-high dose rate (UHDR) several orders of magnitude higher than what is presently used in conventional RT (CONV-RT).

The crystal structures of nine hexamethyl-[1,1'-biphenyl]-4,4'-diammonium (HMB) salts are described: the iodide (2), triiodide (3), succinate (4), fumarate (5), tetravanadate (6), hydroterephthalate (7) and perylenetetracarboxylate (8), as well as pentamethyl-[1,1'-biphenyl]-4,4'-diammonium iodide (1) and the metal-organic framework sodium diacetylenedisalicylate-HMB (9). HMB carbonate (10) has been synthesized as an important intermediate for a promising anti-metal-organic framework (`anti-MOF'). All the described compounds are characterized by high solubility in water.

The IMA level and blood serum antioxidant capacity increased in the following order: healthy non-pregnant women→healthy pregnant women→patients with moderate preeclampsia→patients with severe preeclampsia (p<0.001).

Although immunotherapy has been widely established in metastatic CRC that is mismatch repair deficient or microsatellite instability-high (dMMR/MSI-H), its role in non-metastatic CRC is rapidly evolving. In resected, dMMR/MSI-H stage II CRC, adjuvant fluoropyrimidine has no benefit and is not recommended.

Antihypertensive drugs acting not through the NO-mediated mechanisms normalized BP in some women with preeclampsia, but did not significantly reduce the levels of NO donors in the plasma. It appears that preeclampsia is associated with insufficient NO availability for the targets, rather than low intensity of NO synthesis.

Measurement data on the evolution of microwave permeability with film thickness are analyzed in the framework of a model for the film with a regular stripe domain structure and out-of-plane magnetic anisotropy. A correlation between the microwave magnetic properties and magnetic structure of permalloy films is established.

The solitons are driven by a coherent CW pump at the frequency in the range of normal dispersion, and the energy is transferred from this pump to the solitons via two channels: the Raman amplification and inverse Čerenkov effect. We discuss three different regimes of soliton propagation and we also show that these Raman solitons can be controlled by weak coherent CW signals.

The physical-chemical repurposing of hydrogen peroxide from an antiseptic to an oxygen-producing antihypoxant offers hope for the development of new drugs.
Methods: This manuscript is a meta-analysis performed according to PRISMA guidelines.
Introduction: Upper gastrointestinal (UGI) cancers, comprising malignancies of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, pancreas, liver, biliary tract, and gallbladder, are the second leading cause of cancer-related mortality in the United States and are associated with significant comorbidities. Recent studies show a disproportionate rise in pancreatic and stomach cancer among young adults. This study aims to use a nationwide, population-based cohort to (i) evaluate the trend of all UGI cancer as an aggregate and (ii) examine the role of demographics, histology, and tumor stage in UGI cancer incidence among young adults.

The spin-coating method has not yet shown acceptable results, but a more detailed studying of the regularities of this process may improve the quality of masks. The Langmuir-Blodgett method is expected to be the most preferable for forming high-quality large-scale monolayers.

We sought to determine the impact of the pandemic on incident HCC cases, clinical characteristics, and treatment in the United States.
Methods: Using the National Cancer Database, we analyzed incident HCC cases from 2010 to 2020.
The effects of low-dose radiation exposure remain a controversial topic in radiation biology. This study compares early (0.5, 4, 24, 48, and 72 h) and late (5, 10, and 15 cell passages) post-irradiation changes in γH2AX, 53BP1, pATM, and p-p53 (Ser-15) foci, proliferation, autophagy, and senescence in primary fibroblasts exposed to 100 and 2000 mGy X-ray radiation.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) has a hostile tumor microenvironment that renders T cells dysfunctional. Innate agonist treatments may serve as a T cell priming mechanism to sensitize PDACs to anti-PD-1 antibody (a-PD-1) treatment.

Methods: For model derivation, recipients with HCC undergoing liver transplant from 2018 to 2022 who had biomarkers collected within 3 months before transplant were included.
Introduction: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is associated with significant morbidity and mortality as most patients present with advanced disease. The development of ascites has been associated with poor outcomes and further characterization and contemporary management strategies are needed.
Methods: A total of 437 patients enrolled in the Gastrointestinal Biobank at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center who had epithelial pancreatic malignancy were included in the prospective cohort group.
Multiplex analysis as an immunochip-in-a well format for simultaneous detection of post-vaccinal antibodies to three poultry infections (Newcastle disease, infectious bronchitis and bursal disease) in one chicken sera was developed. The immunochip had a microarray format printed on the bottom of a standard microtiter plate well and consisted of 36 microspots (d = 400 μm each) with three lines of viral antigens absorbed in a gradient of five decreasing concentrations. Optimization of assay conditions revealed the necessity of careful choice of the reaction buffer due to the high tendency of chicken IgY to exhibit unspecific binding.

To better inform future investigations of SBRT dose and radiation fields, we evaluated the patterns of failure in patients with borderline resectable/locally advanced pancreatic cancer (BR/LAPC) after preoperative chemotherapy and SBRT in patients who underwent surgical resection.
Methods And Materials: We performed a single-institution retrospective review of consecutive patients treated from September 2017 to January 2022 with BR/LAPC.

However, the specific histopathologic characteristics were not delineated. This population-based study aimed to assess whether this disproportionate rise in pancreatic cancer in younger women was contributed by pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) or pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PanNET).
