The Whitten effect is a widely used tool for manipulating the mouse estrous cycle and generating reproductively active females within the laboratory setting. Typically, peak numbers of sexually receptive mice occur following exposure to male pheromones, resulting in a higher number of successful copulations on the third day after exposure. Results of recent clinical trials using the immune check point inhibitors (ICI) pembrolizumab or dostarlimab with/without lenvatinib has led to their approval for specific molecular subgroups of advanced recurrent endometrial cancer (EC). Herein, we summarise the clinical data leading to this first tissue-agnostic approval. As this novel therapy is not yet available in the United Kingdom standard care setting, we explore the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) of ICI treatment in EC.

Methods: We analyzed baseline pretreatment data in a subset of 23 patients with T1D from a previously published randomized controlled trial consisting of comprehensive erythrocyte-derived fatty acid profiles and a panel of inflammation-associated endothelial markers. Estimated glucose disposal rate was used to identify and categorize patients with IR.

Ovarian cancer typically presents at an advanced stage, and although the majority of cases initially respond well to platinum-based therapies, chemoresistance almost always occurs leading to a poor long-term prognosis. While various cellular autonomous mechanisms contribute to intrinsic or acquired platinum resistance, the tumour microenvironment (TME) plays a central role in resistance to therapy and disease progression by providing cancer stem cell niches, promoting tumour cell metabolic reprogramming, reducing chemotherapy drug perfusion and promoting an immunosuppressive environment. As such, the TME is an attractive therapeutic target which has been the focus of intense research in recent years.

The aim of this study was to measure inflammatory mediator levels in plasma and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the days following aSAH and to determine their association with aSAH, DIND and clinical outcome.
Material And Methods: Plasma and CSF samples were obtained prospectively from patients with aSAH on days 1-3, 5, 7 and 9 and profiled for interleukin (IL)-1α, IL-1β, IL-4, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-15, IL-17, IL-18, macrophage chemotactic protein (MCP)-1, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-α.
Background: In Blacks, malignant melanoma (MM) is associated with greater morbidity and mortality compared to Caucasians. MMs with BRAF V600E mutation as well as those with loss of p16 protein expression are associated with aggressive behavior and worse prognosis.
Objectives: We determined BRAF (V600E) mutation status and loss of p16 expression in MM cases in Lagos, Nigeria, and correlated these with histopathologic parameters and patients' age.

Among the various eicosanoid metabolic pathways, studies of their role in endometrial cancer (EC) have very much been confined to the COX-2 pathway.
