Low density lipoprotein (LDL) and intermediate density lipoprotein (IDL) classes have been shown to be composed of discrete metabolic entities or subclasses. Present ultracentrifugal methods are unable to precisely determine these subclasses. A new analytical micro-ultracentrifugal method was developed that facilitates the determination of IDL and LDL subclasses and their F1.

In animal studies, both forms of Fe have similar bioavailability when administered in equal amounts. High-dose carbonyl Fe was well tolerated with gastrointestinal side effects similar those observed with standard FeSO4 therapy.

This main metabolic phenomenon was usually accompanied with other substantial events in lipoprotein patterns. Their significance ought to be confirmed by more than one analytical method.

Three groups were identified: patients with normal coronary arteries (group 1), patients with minor luminal irregularities (group 2) and patients with significant coronary artery obstructions (group 3). Densitometric scans of the electrophoretograms were studied to determine the relative proportion of lipoproteins in each major fraction and the configuration of the pre-beta complex.
