This study investigated the effects of behavioral skills training (BST) in teaching earthquake preparedness skills to students with developmental disabilities within a small group arrangement. A multiple probe design across behaviors and replicated across participants evaluated the effectiveness of BST when teaching three high school students to prepare an earthquake emergency kit, do drop-cover-hold, and share location through a personal safety app. All students acquired, maintained, and generalized the target behaviors.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to identify factors affecting the proportion of chromosomally balanced embryos in couples with structural rearrangements and to explore if there is an interchromosomal effect (ICE).
  • Researchers analyzed preimplantation genetic testing data from 300 couples involving over 1,800 embryos and found that 23.8% were normal/balanced and euploid.
  • Key findings indicated that complex translocations and female age (≥35) negatively impacted the chance of having transferable embryos, but there was minimal evidence supporting an ICE, leading to recommendations for improved genetic assessment for these couples.

Article Synopsis
  • Primary Ovarian Insufficiency (POI) affects 1-3.7% of women under 40, leading to issues like infertility and reduced lifespan, with many causes remaining unidentified; recent studies are exploring genetic links to POI through a large cohort of patients.* -
  • The research included 375 patients and uncovered a 29.3% success rate for clinical genetic diagnosis of POI, discovering new pathogenic genes and pathways previously unlinked to POI, while confirming the role of several known genes associated with cancer susceptibility and other genetic disorders.* -
  • This genetic understanding enables personalized medicine approaches, which aim to prevent or treat related health issues, predict ovarian reserve, and identify candidates for innovative therapies like in vitro

Peeling skin syndrome is a heterogeneous group of rare disorders. Peeling skin, leukonychia, acral punctate keratoses, cheilitis and knuckle pads (PLACK syndrome, OMIM616295) is a newly described form of PSS with an autosomal recessive mode of inheritance. We report a 5.

Designed to minimize chances of genetically abnormal embryos, preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) involves fertilization (IVF), embryo biopsy, diagnosis and selective embryo transfer. Preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) aims to avoid miscarriage and live born trisomic offspring and to improve IVF success. Diagnostic approaches include fluorescence hybridization (FISH) and more contemporary comprehensive chromosome screening (CCS) including array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH), quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR), next-generation sequencing (NGS) and karyomapping.

The aim of this study was to analyse to what extent sperm aneuploidy is associated with sperm morphology and subsequently with embryo aneuploidy. Fifty-nine men with variable degrees of teratozoospermia and previously poor assisted reproduction prognosis were included in the study. Samples from 10 normozoospermic men with proven fertility were used as controls.
