Wnt-signaling pathway plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis and progression of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML). sFRP1 is involved in the suppression of the Wnt-signaling pathway and has been shown to be epigenetically silenced by promoter hypermethylation during CML progression. DNMT3A plays a crucial role in promoter hypermethylation and is responsible for establishing methylation patterns.

Preventive and Therapeutic Mental Health Care after the Earthquake- Expert Opinion from the Psychiatric Association of Turkey.

Two major earthquakes hit Turkey at the Kahramanmaraş region on February 6th 2023. The earthquakes affected almost 15 million individuals, resulting in more than forty thousand deaths, thousands of wounded and the destruction of ancient cities of humankind. Immediately after the earthquakes, the Psychiatric Association of Turkey organized an educational event to address the needs for a guidance on how to approach a trauma of such a big scale.

A unique case of isolated thoracic spinal Rosai-Dorfman disease related to IgG4.

Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD) is a rare benign histiocytosis usually characterized by massive cervical lymphadenopathy and systemic manifestations. Extranodal, especially spinal involvement, is extremely rare. Our case was deemed worthy of presentation because it was the first reported isolated case of spinal RDD related to IgG4 and mimicked meningioma clinically and radiologically.

Comparison of the Effects of Pectoral Nerve Block and Local Infiltration Anesthesia on Postoperative Pain for Breast Reduction Surgery: A Prospective Observational Study.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of the Pecs II block on postoperative pain in patients undergoing breast reduction surgery.

Materials And Methods: This prospective, comparative, and observational study was conducted with 53 patients, with American Society of Anesthesiologists I-II, between the ages of 18 and 65, and undergoing bilateral breast reduction surgery. The patients were divided into two groups: Pecs II block with general anesthesia (Pecs group; n = 26) and local infiltration anesthesia with general anesthesia (control group; n = 27).

Background: Wnt signaling cascades play important roles in cell fate decisions and their deregulation has been documented in many diseases, including malignant tumors and leukemia. The sFRPs are one of the most studied Wnt inhibitors; and the sFRP1 loss is known in many hematological malignancies.

Chronic myeloid leukemia is a clonal hematopoietic stem cell disease characterized by myeloid expansion. The hallmark of the disease is the Philadelphia chromosome, which results in the formation of the BCR-ABL oncogene, a tyrosine kinase that is involved in many signaling pathways including Wnt signaling. The latter has a unique role in chronic myeloid leukemia progression; activated signaling leads to the establishment of an additional leukemic stem cell population derived from granulocyte-macrophage progenitors.

Pelvic lipomatosis associated with portal vein thrombosis and hydronephrosis: a case report.

Pelvic lipomatosis is an uncommon disease with no clear etiology and it occurs secondary to deposition of a large amount of fatty tissue in the pelvis. Evaluation of the Decision-making Capacity of Two Cases Planning to Undergo Uterine Evacuation.

Psychiatric disorders in the perinatal period can lead to a deterioration in one's judgment and decision-making ability. These disorders may cause sensitive and complex legal and ethical issues relating to psychiatric, obstetric, and neonatal care. Clinicians should ethically respect the autonomy of the individual, but at the same time, they must assess the individual's decision-making process with the use of forensic psychiatric and consultation-liaison psychiatric practice.

Secreted Wnt antagonists in leukemia: A road yet to be paved.

Wnt signaling has been a topic of research for many years for its diverse and fundamental functions in physiological (such as embryogenesis, organogenesis, proliferation, tissue repair and cellular differentiation) and pathological (carcinogenesis, congenital/genetic diseases, and tissue degeneration) processes. Wnt signaling pathway aberrations are associated with both solid tumors and hematological malignancies. Unregulated Wnt signaling observed in malignancies may be due to a wide spectrum of abnormalities, from mutations in the genes of key players to epigenetic modifications of Wnt antagonists.

Pretransplant Renal Arterial Vasculopathy of Donor Predicts Poor Renal Allograft Survival.

Objectives: Transplant vasculopathy is a significant predictor of poor outcome. We investigated whether age or pretransplant renal arterial vasculopathy of grafted kidneys affected allograft survival.

Materials And Methods: This study included 148 recipients and their donors.

Dishevelled (Dvl) proteins are activated by Wnt pathway stimulation and have crucial roles in the regulation of β-catenin destruction complex. CYLD is a tumor suppressor and a deubiquitination enzyme. CYLD negatively regulates the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway by deubiquitinating Dvl proteins.

A pilot study for determination of anxiety related SLC6A4 promoter "S" and "L" alleles in healthy Turkish athletes.

We aimed to analyze the allelic distribution of solute carrier family-6 member-4 promoter region in Turkish athletes. Recent studies showed the association of lesser expressing "S" allele with anxiety. Genotype percentages for LL, LS and SS genotypes were found as 46, 35 and 19, respectively.

However, the role of Wnt signaling antagonists in therapy resistance and disease progression has not been fully investigated. We aimed to study the effects of Wnt/β-catenin pathway antagonists-secreted frizzled-related protein 1 and Wnt inhibitory factor 1-on resistance toward tyrosine kinase inhibitors in chronic myeloid leukemia.

Traumatic Neuroma Causing Biliary Stricture After Orthotopic Liver Transplant, Treated With Hepaticojejunostomy: A Case Report.

Traumatic neuromas of the biliary tract have occasionally been reported to cause strictures at the cystic duct stump as a late complication of cholecystectomy with common bile duct exploration. The incidence of symptomatic traumatic biliary neuroma appears to be low after orthotopic liver transplant, as only 25 patients have been described previously in the English-language literature. Traumatic (amputation) neuroma is a reactive proliferation of pericholangial nerve fibers induced by injury, but it is not a true neoplasm.

Histologic Changes in Bone Marrow Biopsies From Liver Transplant Patients.

Objectives: Liver transplant may complicated by various hematologic conditions, resulting in indication for bone marrow biopsy. Immunosuppressive therapies, specific infections, and secondary neoplasms affect bone marrow. This study explored the rates of exposure to violence among physicians, nurses, and other health care staff members working at the locked psychiatric clinics, to examine the quantity and types of violence exposed, and to compare occupational groups by the level of exposure to violence.
