The purpose of development of this clinical practice guidelines was to provide evidence-based protocols that help the practitioner and the patient make the right decision for the health assessment, treatment and prevention of pneumoconiosis. Pneumoconiosis is the interstitial lung disease of occupational origin caused by prolonged inhalation of inorganic dust, characterized by chronic diffuse aseptic inflammation in lung tissue with the development of pulmonary fibrosis. Currently, thereare no treatment that provide a cure pulmonary fibrosis and changes in the dynamics of decline in lung function.

To prevent progressive lung ventilation disorders, to lower inflammatory activity in respiratory diseases, to prevent pneumoconiosis in coal miners, total broncho-alveolar lavage was included into therapeutic and prophylactic measures system. Results are reduction of lung ventilation disorders progression over 5-year observation, lower intensity of tracheo- bronchial inflammation in miners with chronic respiratory diseases.

For assessing influence of social factors on life quality of workers in coal extraction enterpirses of Kemerovo region, the authors used questionnaire SF-36. Life quality parameters of workers engaged into coal extraction in Kemerovo region appeared to lower with age from 20 to 64 years. Life quality parameters on scales of pain, physical functioning and general health are invertedly correlated with age and length of service in hazardous work conditions for coal extraction workers.
