Another monovalent cation, Li, is well known as a medicine for treatment of psychiatric disorders, but mechanism of its action is obscure. Thus, it is important to evaluate the effect of Li on gene expression in endothelial cells.

Chromosome set (2n = 24) consists of 7 pairs of metacentric (I--VII), 4 pairs of submetacentric (VIII, X-XII) and a pair of intercentric (IX) chromosomes. Morphometric parameters of chromosome groups are similar in the populations studied.

Study on the relation between GST gene polymorphism and cytogenetic indices in lung cancer patients has shown a significant excess of the group average level in cells with micronuclei in NSLC patients with GSTTI(-). The frequency of cells with micronuclei was higher in smoking patients with a mutant genotype than in smoking carriers of the GSTT1(+) genotype.

In this study the interrelations between clonal proliferation and abnormalities of mitotic divisions in the immortalized cell line established from the mouse embryo were investigated with the aid of computerized microscopy of living cells. 3 mitoses with three daughter cells and 7 asymmetric mitoses which generated two daughter cells of conspicuously different sizes were registered among 71 mitotic divisions in the individual cell genealogy.
