Diagnosis of Gilbert's syndrome is based on the detection of homozygous carriage of an additional TA-repeat in the promoter of the UGT1A1 gene, leading to a decrease in the activity of the UGT enzyme. No large studies have been done in the Russian Federation on the prevalence of carriage of Gilbert's syndrome, as well as the biochemical and molecular profile of such patients. The aim of the study is to evaluate biochemical and molecular genetic parameters in patients with Gilbert's syndrome in Russia.

The objective of the present study was to elucidate the possible correlations between the vitamin D level in the blood serum and lactase gene polymorphism (LCT-13910 T>C) in the patients presenting with chronic polypous rhinosinusitis (CPRS). The study included 50 patients with this condition and 14 subjects comprising the control group. The variants of lactase gene polymorphism (LCT-13910 T>C) were identified with the use of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in real time.

One of the primary objectives of military otorhinolaryngology is to provide specialized otorhinolaryngological aid to the sick,wounded, and injured servicemen during local armed conflicts and in times of peace. The military forces of the Russian Federation must have up-to-date, mobile, readily available, and many-level otorhinolaryngological service. The concept of further development of this service has been elaborated to ensure its balanced and sustainable functioning.
