A study included 113 patients with localization-related epilepsy treated with antiepileptic drugs: 53 patients with drug-resistant (uncontrolled) form of the disease and 60 patients with controlled epileptic seizures. A comparison group included 53 patients with rare seizures not taking antiepileptic drugs. In the group of patients with uncontrolled localization-related epilepsy, the EEG monitoring of the sleep-wake cycle revealed more frequent regional interictal epileptiform discharges and increased α- and Β-activities during sleep compared to wakefulness.

106 patients with cerebral arachnoiditis diagnosed according to pneumoencephalographic and computer-tomographic findings were studied. 65 patients had clinical signs of progredient disease (lability and an increase of neurologic symptoms). In 41 patients clinical pattern was stable during several years.

Mineral water "Naftusia" (100-200 ml a day), lumbar applications of ozocerite, mineral baths and exercise therapy were used. Our findings give a reason to consider sanatory rehabilitation a promising method of health promotion and correction of functional disorders.
