Atherosclerosis (AS) is a growing global health epidemic and is the leading cause of cardiovascular health problems, including ischemic stroke, coronary artery disease, and peripheral vascular disease. Despite extensive research on the underlying mechanisms of AS, iron remains an under-investigated mediator in the atherosclerotic process. Iron's involvement in AS is primarily linked to the iron-induced programmed cell death process known as ferroptosis.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAim: This study aims to compare the clinical and radiographic outcomes after complete versus incomplete removal of granulation tissue (GT) during modified minimally invasive surgical technique (M-MIST) for management of periodontitis patients with deep pockets associated with infra-bony defects.
Methodology: Ten patients with a total of 14 deep non-resolving pockets (≥ 5 mm) associated with a vertical infra-bony defect were recruited for this study. They were randomized into 2 groups; a test group with incomplete removal of GT and a control group with complete removal of GT.
Primary cardiac tumors are rare. The cardiac sarcomas are the most common malignant cardiac tumors. These tumors have a dismal prognosis with an overall median survival of 25 months.

Evidence suggests that cancer stem cells contribute to acquired chemoresistance and tumor recurrence. Here, we show that IRAK1 is upregulated in EOC tissues, and enhanced expression correlates with poorer overall survival.

Since the introduction of the minimally invasive surgical concept, a limited number of studies have investigated this technique in a standardized manner, with further studies required to verify the validity and predictability of the minimally invasive FL-technique. The current randomized trial compares a minimally invasive (ECL), using piezosurgery with flapless-approach (FL), versus an open-flap (OF) approach in the management of patients with APE Type 1B.
