The coastal zone is an area that includes the sea coast and adjacent parts of the land and sea, where the mutual interaction of these environments is clearly marked. Hence, the modelling of the land and seabed parts of the coastal zone is crucial and necessary in order to determine the dynamic changes taking place in this area. The accurate determination of the terrain in the coastal zone is now possible thanks to the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs).
View Article and Find Full Text PDF(1) Background: The aim of this study was to systematically compare TEM sections of mineralized human enamel and dentine prepared by focused ion beam (in situ lift-out) technique and ultramicrotomy through a combination of microscopic examination methods (scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy). In contrast with published studies, we compared the TEM preparation methods using the same specimen blocks as those for the ultramicrotomy and FIB technique. (2) Methods: A further evaluation of TEM sample preparation was obtained by confocal laser scanning microscopy and atomic force microscopy.

Purpose: Evaluation of the long-term efficiency of MIGS implants is still challenging, due to the lack of standardized clinical studies of stand-alone procedures. Moreover, the different mechanisms of the various glaucoma drainage devices are not adequately considered. The current study focusses on the development of a method for oculopression to evaluate the efficiency of glaucoma drainage devices.

Methods: Eight transversal sections of a sound human tooth were investigated with scanning acoustic microscopy (SAM) and Vickers microhardness measurements. Longitudinal acoustic velocity c(l), amplitude and microhardness MHV were evaluated and for each c(l) test point corresponding amplitude and MHV were linearly interpolated and graphically analyzed.
Objective: To determine in vitro the loss of integrity caused on photocatalytic anatase coated implant surfaces by clinical instrumentation through changes in surface topography and loss of functionality.
Methods: Anatase-coated titanium discs were treated with diamond burs, polishers, plastic and metal hand instruments, air scaler and air flow devices. The pressure exerted through instrumentation was measured online.
