Pathogenic strains of Staphylococcus aureus remain the most frequent causative agents of infection in patients with burns. With expansion of deep burns the frequency of gram-negative bacteria increased. The isolates were highly resistant to antibiotics.

Intestinal microflora in patients with chronic enterocolitis and duodenal ulcer was studied. Both the cavity of the small intestine and the structures of its mucosa were investigated. The method of aspiration biopsy was used, the samples of multiple washings of the intestinal mucosa and its homogenate were used for seeding.
