Experiences and needs of persons who have undergone limb amputation in Saki West, Oyo State, Nigeria.

Background: Amputation is a life-changing experience involving the surgical removal of a body part. However, little is known about the experiences of persons who have undergone limb amputation in the Saki West Local Government Area (LGA), which prompted this study.

Methods: An exploratory qualitative study design was used.

The World Health Organization (WHO) held the inaugural Traditional Medicine Global Summit in India in 2023 to promote the evidence-based integration of traditional medicine (TM) into the global healthcare system. This summit offers many opportunities for Africa, where most people rely on TM for health care. TM is widely accepted and affordable in the region but faces many challenges that limit its potential.

THE TOOTH SHADE MATCHING ABILITY AMONG DENTAL PROFESSIONALS: A COMPARATIVE STUDY.

Background: Shade matching presents a complex and multidimensional process that involves the cognitive ability of the operator. Hence, dental professionals need to have high shade matching skill.

Objective: To compare the shade matching ability among three categories of dental professionals and assess the inter-examiner reliability of the visual shade selection.

Dental implant as an option for tooth replacement: The awareness of patients at a tertiary hospital in a developing country.

Aim: A survey was set out to evaluate the knowledge of patients about tooth replacement as a whole, and assess their awareness of implant-retained prosthesis as an option of tooth replacement.

Materials And Methods: Information on sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge about implant-retained tooth as an option for missing tooth replacement, cost implication, source of information and knowledge about other options of tooth replacement were obtained from patients attending the dental clinics of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, using structured self-administered questionnaires. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 20.

Randomized clinical study comparing metallic and glass fiber post in restoration of endodontically treated teeth.

Background: Post-retained crowns are indicated for endodontically treated teeth (ETT) with severely damaged coronal tissue. Metallic custom and prefabricated posts have been used over the years, however, due to unacceptable color, extreme rigidity and corrosion, fiber posts, which are flexible, aesthetically pleasing and have modulus of elasticity comparable with dentin were introduced.

Aim: To compare clinical performance of metallic and glass fiber posts in restoration of ETT.
